Tucked away in a quiet corner of Ultimo is this corner café serving up some tasty and breakfast and brunch café meals. There is a massive, colourful mural on the side of the café which should get your attention as you approach the café. There is not plenty of seating inside, but there are a couple of outdoor tables as well.
I tried the following dishes:
The LND big breakfast - eggs cooked to your liking, sourdough, grilled tomato, baked beans, hashbrown, bacon and sausage. The big breakfast is the king of all breakfast dishes and this delivers everything that you would expect on a big plate.
Chicken waldolf salad - this classic salad is re-invented here with the addition of candied walnuts which added the right amount of crunch and sweetness to the salad. The salad came with juicy chicken pieces, lettuce, grapes, celery, apple and a homemade sesame flavoured dressing. It was the right balance of flavours and a very satisfying dish.
The signature choco French toast - this was one epic French toast! French toast with caramelised banana, chocolate cream cheese, ice cream and caramel sauce. What sets this French toast apart from others was the chocolate cream cheese, words cannot describe how good it tasted. It had the right blend of creaminess and combination of chocolate and cream cheese to balance out the other sweet elements on this dish. This was my favourite dish of the day.
The signature 'Coffeecado' which was coffee + avocado = AMAZING! This combines two of my favourite loves, what more could I ask for? It is like a creamy iced coffee smoothie, I canât wait to go back to have another one. Owner Linda has brought this dish to the LND cafe from Indonesia where it is a popular drink.
There is a good range on the menu here, perfect for breakfast, brunch or lunch. From classic breakfast dishes, salads and sandwiches and wraps. My picks would be the French toast and the coffeecado - two dishes I've never had anywhere else like this.

Read moreIâm writing this review just after going back to the cafe (13:40)since I forgot half a sandwich that I left on the table already in a takeaway box. When I came back the two employees told me that they had already thrown it away, not even apologising. When I asked them why they did that if it was clear that I could be going back for it, they went to the owner who justified it saying literally âwe didnât know if you were coming backâ. I replied that it was just a matter of putting it aside and wait if I showed up, as I had brunch around 12:10 and it was 13:15 when I came back. First, the owner or manager asked me in a very impolite way how long I wanted the food to be kept, then he told me that it elapsed a long time which is completely preposterous (since it was not even an hour). After having thought what else to say instead of finding a solution, he used the âold reliableâ excuse of avoiding cross contamination, mentioning that if I had forgotten my food at Maccas, they would have done the same. Again, you canât compare a local shop with customers that usually live nearby with a McDonalds. If I had forgotten a plastic container, a water bottle or otherwise, then they would have discarded it to avoid cross contamination? The employee that prepared our smoothie used the EFTPOS and immediately grabbed the blender without washing their hands and they talk about cross contamination. Not to mention that when the food arrived, my partner asked for spicy sauce and the manager tried to clarify if we were asking for that or for âa knife and forkâ. We didnât understand what he said and when I asked him to please repeat he went âwhat do you want?â. That was actually a red flag as you donât talk to your customers like that. There are many polite ways to ask someone to repeat what theyâve said. We used to go to that shop to support local businesses, but surprisingly their customer service is terrible. Lack of common sense and customer...
Read moreThis cosy cafe is on Quarry Street closer towards the Darling Harbour end of Ultimo. This cosy cafe definitely punches above its weight. With a few tables inside and out, the meals are presented beautifully and have great flavours too. Service is great here too.
Started off with some coffees which they use Foglia Organic coffee blend. It is a smooth blend and easily drinkable.
We got to sample quite a few dishes here so got a good overview of their brunch menu. The first dish was their Maple Benedict. A sticky glaze of maple on the bacon with broccolini as well as perfectly poached eggs sit upon a toasted brioche bun covered in hollandaise. Flavours are amazing. Next dish was Avocado Bruschetta. A generous spread of avocado on sourdough is topped with tomato, mozzarella, and kale. A balsamic glaze and beetroot powder adorn the plate. Something healthier than a fry up but just as tasty. The third dish was the Quinoa Salad Bowl. Loosely interpreted as more a plate of well cooked and seasoned food that included fried cauliflower which had the right amount of crunch. This dish had layers of textures.
The finale dish is the Choco French Toast. One of their signature dishes, it looked amazing. One would be fooled that it all show however it backs it up in taste too. So many wonderful components make up this plate. The toast is light and fluffy with plenty of crunch on the outside. The chocolate cream cheese tempers the sweetness. The banana, ice cream, and caramel brings that sweetness to the dish.
Definitely can...
