This is my second visit to Lily's. First time I came 2 months ago, I was super impressed by their Wagyu steak. It was so tender and flavoursome I decided to take my entire family here, so booked for 8 people 2 weeks in advance.
Disappointingly, when I arrived, the table wasn't ready. All my guests had to stand there in a busy walk way while they cleaned the tables very slowly (which by the way was just sweeping the dirty crumbs from the table to the floor). The staff seemed overworked and inexperienced. When we ordered, they didn't even know why most of the menus had missing pages except one which was the only one that included the kids menu.
Prices also increased, with the Wagyu going up by around $10 to $41. Which had I known, I wouldn't have come back as it's not the value I expected. The taste was also vastly inconsistent to the first time. The Wagyu was supposed to be marble 9, but was chewy and tasted more like a 4. Not worth $41. Then when we paid the bill, there was an price error on the Wagyu where they charged us $61 per plate instead. Lucky I had asked for the receipt and checked, and after waiting around a bit more got my money back..
Won't be coming back due to the disappointing experience. Very sad as the first time was such a good experience. Management should address these issues as there is so much potential in this restaurant, but currently is both overpriced, slow service and inconsistent in food quality....
Read moreOrdered iced pistachio lattes. They brought terrible cold drinks that are basically water and a hint of milk, with pistachio paste on the wall of the cup. They tasted awful! When we spoke to the waiter he said that this is the first time they’ve done it, and offered replacement. They then left us for half an hour waiting at the table. When we went to ask, the manager was out of line saying they only did it because we asked, with no responsibility for how it tasted, or lack of skill in making it. Firstly, if your barista doesn’t know how to do a drink, at a drinkable standard, do not offer to do it, accepting payment for it, when you’re not sure how it will turn out. Secondly, I have had it in other places and it tasted amazing, so the issue is in your barrrista’s lack of skill. Third, your manager’s poor attitude and poor customer service to a courteous customer brining their unhappy experience to him is appalling. My family and I have been customers for years (as we are locals), regularly recommending Lillys to family and friends. We won’t be back, and will definitely be telling our experience to our local family and friends, specially the managers (owner’s...
Read moreWent to Rhodes Lilly's Café on Wednesday and ordered a coffee along with a slice of my favourite banana bread. Upon receiving my order, I was taken aback by the thinness of the banana bread; it was as thin as a sandwich toast. Despite my initial disappointment, I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, the taste left much to be desired. It felt as though I was eating stale banana bread, which was surprising, as I have banana bread at least four times a week and have tried many varieties.
I finished my coffee and decided to address my concerns by taking the banana bread to the counter. I informed the waiter about the disappointing quality of the banana bread. To my surprise, he defended its freshness, stating that it had been made that day. Regardless, in my opinion, Lilly's banana bread was the worst I've ever had.
I recommend that anyone thinking of ordering banana bread at Lilly's Café on Rhodes reconsider. A slice of banana bread costs $5.90, but in my opinion, it's not worth the price, especially considering its thinness and...
