6 words: JUST GO. YOU WILL LOVE IT. I have been going to Lucky Pickle now regularly for almost a year and I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Value for money is great (sandwiches are huge and really fill you up) plus SO SO SO tasty. Our favourite is the Chicken Katsu.
We love this place so much that we asked them recently to cater for our sons 1st birthday party. Ricky and his partner (forgot his name - sorry!) specially opened their store on a Saturday and made all these amazing sandwiches and the feedback from our friends was as expected "where did you get these sandwiches from? They are amazing!", "Best schnitzel sandwich we have had in a long time!", etc. The accolades were endless. We had a few sandwiches left over after the party (we may have slightly over catered...) and people were lining up to take a doggy bag of sandwiches home.
Great sandwiches made by great people. Winning...

We ordered the pork belly bahn mi and chicken katsu sandwich. They use baguettes for their sandwiches. It was very fresh. Glassy and crispy skin on the outside and super soft on the inside. The meat for both sandwiches were good, but you can tell they were not cooked to order. The chicken katsu do have a crispy skin but barely warm. Overall though, it was still a very delicious sandwich.
The serving size for the pork belly sandwich was normal, but the chicken katsu sando was huge! I would suggest sharing half a sandwich of each menu item. That way, it'll be more enjoyable, and also, you get to try both sandwiches.
I would come here again for a casual...
Read moreYou will have to be lucky to find this small sandwich shop in Surry Hills. The address is 509-511 Crown St but it isn’t on Crown Street. Enter via High Holborn Street which is the back street of Crown and you will find this little sandwich gem. The place is small with one table inside and a couple of milk crates outside. It is more of a takeaway sandwich shop that caters mostly to the locals and those working around the area.
I understand why Lucky Pickle is so popular. $10 for a sandwich is fairly reasonable in Surry Hills. It is tasty. The fact that is tucked away in some laneway makes it even more hipster and cool. It’s opened by Tio’s bartender Arash Katrak and Anna Berry. There is no reinvention of the sandwich. Just a whole lot of great combination...
