Our family came here for my nephew's birthday and we had a genuinely good meal and left well fed!
My nephew loves coming to this restaurant and while it's a little out of the way for us now it was his 18th and we live pizza so couldn't say no.
The entree was a platter of mixed Italian classics; arancini, zucchini flowers, mussels in tomato, squid, prosciutto, mozzarella and bruschetta. The bruschetta was suprisingly my favourite of the day, it was perfectly balanced, bread, tomatoes and dressing was spot on. The mozzarella ball was heavenly also, it literally melted in your mouth.
The mains were pizza and pasta. The pizza came out in one of those showy rectangles and while the flavours were great I think the centre needed a little bit more time. To be fair they were fairly busy and we were a large group so it is hard to coordinate everything perfectly. For the pasta we had gnocchi in a red sauce (yum) and spaghetti boscaiola (very yum). Not many places make good gnocchi but these were good and the boscaiola was great.
We had no issues with the service, the waiters were helpful in helping setup our 9 month old and put up with my impatient father without a worry :). Only real issue was that there is only one male and female toilet so there can be a wait after...
Read moreA little disappointing that there is a $30 booking fee per person (you lose if you don’t show) which ideally should reserve you a table when you arrive but instead found ourselves waiting in a line amongst 10-15 others who also had a booking, for 10-20 mins to be seated at a table. You could turn up without a booking and wait in line and there wouldn’t be a difference.
Don’t get me wrong, the food is definitely traditional Italian quality and I can understand why it’s so busy but they really drop their game in service perspective, majority of the staff had no idea what was going on, there was no structure in terms of service.
We had other tables orders coming to our table, with our order arriving at multiple tables before they finally worked out where it was meant to go.
Waited 30 mins for a pizza while watching multiple tables around us receive their food first when they ordered after us.
40 mins passed and we still hadn’t received our pasta, which I had to then remind staff and confirm that it was on its way, which I was told it will be 5 mins.
I’m sure I just had a bad experience here, the atmosphere is alive, food and drinks are good quality and it’s definitely a nice place to go if your feeling Italian! Wouldn’t recommend if your looking for...
Read morePizza is very soggy even when they provided a new one. At first the dough was raw. It's either undercooked or something in the dough. If you grab the pizza the toppings all just fall off. It's a shame because the toppings and quality of dough are top quality. But the soggy dough ruins it all. The service and atmosphere is amazing but the real reason I went is for the food. The pasta may be different but I can't be bothered going again. They say they strive to be great but there's several months of reviews saying exactly the same thing about soggy pizza without change. Lost hope based on the track record, especially since one of the responses to a bad review said their pizzas are thin and that's why they are "wet and juicy", not quite the adjectives anyone would expect from a description of pizza... I'll find another pizzeria. I feel bad because the people who service you really care.
Response to business' response: I have checked several Neapolitan pizza videos on YouTube to check if I was in the wrong, your pizzas are way soggier than standard and the toppings don't fall off no way near as easy. The fact your first pizza had runny dough leads me to think the pizzas are...
