Have you seen all those pictures of stacked high fluffy pancakes dominating your Instagram feed, and hear them repeatedly calling your name!? Look no further - head to Paddock on Crown to check them out.
This cafe was taken on about 6 months ago and they’re doing amazing things. We met the lovely Chef Lester, who is so hospitable and you can see has a good relationship with locals! It’s in a beautiful little terrace house and you can sit on the front balcony, inside or on the back terrace. It’s quaint and homely. There’s an amazing peacock painting on the inside wall too.
The menu has both indulgent and healthy options so we decided to try a few. The pancakes are what everyone is coming for! They are superb - we ordered an extra one and out came the perfect stack of fluffy pancakes with vanilla marscapone, raspberry coulis, whipped maple butter and fresh fruits. We added vanilla ice cream too! But if you prefer ube, that’s an option too. Worth coming just for these, if not more.
We also ordered the corn fritters, which have the same consistency of the pancakes, served with spiced tomato and ginger chutney, roasted pumpkin, poached eggs and radish. A fresh and healthy dish. This one was found on the daily specials menu.
Also a fan of a baked eggs, we ordered this too. These were so warming on a cold winters day, filled with chorizo, potato and a delicious mildly spicy and flavoursome tomato sauce with a side of Turkish bread, tomatoes, mushroom, bacon and radish.
They use double roasters coffee, so we had a latte, cappuccino and also a dirty chai. Coffees were great too.
The food here is so delicious, and presented nicely. Service was fast and staff were super friendly. We felt very welcome.
Be sure to visit soon! We look forward to returning for the...
Read moreRAW CHICKEN!!!!! And even worse customer service
Wish we would’ve taken a picture before confronting them about this. Never thought this was going to be their response, something worth writing a bad review about.
I went to Paddock on Crown this morning with my partner and ordered chicken wings. After finishing them, I noticed that one of the wings was raw and bloody inside. Out of five wings, one was undercooked, which is completely unacceptable for food safety.
When I brought this up, the waiter was polite and apologised, but things went downhill when I spoke with the manager. Instead of taking responsibility, the manager immediately offered only a partial refund because “only one” wing was raw. She also told me that since I had already eaten the wings before noticing, I shouldn’t be asking for a full refund. I tried to explain multiple times as per her request that I only realised it was raw after finishing and looking back at the plate, but she dismissed my explanation and kept asking why I didn’t tell her when we started eating it.
Her excuses were ridiculous, saying it was “just one wing” out of five, and that if I had told her earlier she would’ve done something different. To that, I explained to her again that I didn’t know it what order I ate the wings. Raw chicken is a serious health risk, and it doesn’t matter if it’s one wing or all of them.
Eventually I got a full refund for the wings, but the entire experience left me frustrated and appalled. Never have I eaten at a restaurant that downplayed such a hazard. Don’t think I even got an apology from the manager.
Upon looking at other reviews, it’s clear to see that their lack of accountability has been a running issue. Customers shouldn’t pay for the...

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.
Let’s start with the service — an absolute disaster. Our drinks and food were delivered to the wrong table with zero acknowledgment or apology. We waited 20 minutes just to receive a drink. No explanation, no urgency, just complete indifference.
Then came the food — with no cutlery. I had to go to the counter and ask, only to be told that they hadn’t even finished washing them. Seriously?
Now, the food — utterly disappointing: • The crab squid ink pasta was borderline inedible. The noodles were soggy and overcooked, the sauce tasted like pure salt, and any sign of crab was microscopic. It was a struggle to take more than a few bites. • The French toast was soaked in syrup like a sponge — cloyingly sweet and completely devoid of texture. Instead of fluffy toast, we got a syrup-drowned sugar sponge. • The strawberry matcha drink was a joke — absolutely no strawberry flavor at all. It tasted like it was made with the cheapest canned strawberries they could find in bulk, and even that’s being generous. Artificial, bland, and revolting. • The coconut matcha was equally bad — sickly sweet, no coconut aroma, and definitely no trace of real matcha.
And we paid $70 for this? I’ve had better experiences at gas station cafés. The only thing this place delivered was regret.
Sure, the place looks trendy — but don’t let the aesthetics fool you. The service is careless, the food is appalling, and the drinks are a sugary mess.
Do yourself a favor: avoid this place. Your wallet and your taste buds...
