Gotta say they are serious about spices and they’re taking Indian cuisine to the new level.
Bored of usual Indian food? Don’t worry, me too. But good news is that we have @masalatheory that will WOW us with their remarkable Neo Indian Menu. Masala Theory is tucked away in Surry Hills, perfect spot for casual lunch and dinner where you get a slice of India on your plate. Before I talk about what I have tasted at Masala Theory, I have to say I’m in love with their hip and vibrant interior. So awesome, it elevates the whole Indian dining experience. Not only that, this restaurant is so welcoming and you can feel the friendly and fun vibes from their crew.
Every dish on their menu comes with some fun unique twists, that makes them different from the rest of the Indian restaurants. I really appreciate their effort and talents in the details, the use of spices, colors and pairing their food with their NEW cocktail menu. Super excited with their unbelievable stunning cocktails range that they created for this season. I am blown-away with every dish that I have tasted, the spices and aromas definitely stimulate my taste buds. It tastes as good as it looks.

To say that every one of my senses were satisfied is an understatement. Traditional Indian with a modern, hip and fresh twist, that's what neo-indian is about.
SMELL: The smell and aroma of the curries were hard to hold back from but unfortunately we couldn't stop taking photos of this colourful and amazing spread.
SIGHT: I'm no photographer but you will all agree that all you need to do is checkout the photos and aesthetically the food speaks for itself. Not only does the food pop colour but the location is another vibe of its own with hand painted murals and pop art directly from India creating a fun and perfect venue for all occasions.
TASTE: Hard to believe this I know but the food tasted even better than it looked taking me on hip trip to India within Surry Hills. My fav had to be the curry bombs which is also a signature dish as it was something I had never tried before and the most enjoyable explosion in my mouth.
TOUCH: The beauty of breaking Naan bread in your hands and dipping into hot butter chicken is just drooling.
HEAR: And what's better than the sound of laughter and enjoyment of 5 full bellied and content foodies who didn't realise that they had been feasting for over 3 hours.
To the amazing owner Yashpal, thank you for your warm and generous hospitality and putting on the most wonderful spread of colour and tantalising flavours to tease and pleasure our taste buds.

Read moreHonestly not a good representation of Indian food. I get that they are a fusion restraunt but instead of making the dishes look fancy and trendy why is the masala only in the name not the food?
The masala was not roasted properly in our cottage cheese poppers, the eggplant was bland with no spice to speak of let alone the smokey flavour it's supposed to have. We didn't try much else other than the lamb which came with culinary foam that makes me ask why? What are you trying to achieve here? The lamb and mango combo was great to their credit though but I'd expect a restraunt to cook its food properly.
All in all I have to ask, why are you putting popcorn in the eggplant and foam on the lamb, roasted poha underneath the paneer poppers, it just feels like a cheap attempt at being trendy when the baseline taste is missing. The biriyani store across the road smells inviting I think this place really needs to reinvent themselves.
Really disappointing experience and at the price point I cannot recommend this place to anyone.
Response to owner edit: Yeah that's fine your trying to do something different that's great, but I'm saying whats the point of the pizzazz if the underlying flavor just isn't there. This just feels like a sad excuse for your food being bland.
If you want to juj that up then fine, but get the basics right. Otherwise this whole thing is like serving maggie noodles with some popcorn ontop and calling it chinese food and telling the customer we're just trying to serve food with a cheeky twist. The only thing cheeky is the price.
Here's hoping to you guys just having a bad night but if not you guys are just denying that fact that your food is pretty bland and you need to spruce it up to seem trendy to charge the...
