We visited Malika Bakehouse in Surry Hills for a brunch catch-up with a group of four friends and a baby, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience! The cozy and chic ambiance made it a welcoming spot for a relaxed meal, and the staff was very accommodating, ensuring we had enough space for the baby pram.

The menu offered a delightful mix of options, from indulgent pastries to hearty brunch dishes. We shared a selection of baked goods—each one beautifully crafted and absolutely delicious. The highlight for us was the signature croissant; flaky, buttery, and perfectly golden. For the mains, the shakshuka and the smashed avo toast were crowd favorites—packed with flavor and generous portions.

The service was friendly and efficient, with the staff checking in just enough without being intrusive. They even brought a little treat for the baby, which added a lovely personal touch.

Malika Bakehouse is definitely a hidden gem for anyone looking for a relaxed brunch spot in Surry Hills, whether you're catching up with friends or out with family. We'll...

We stumbled upon Malika in Surry Hills while on the hunt for a spot that nails the modern Turkish cafe vibe, especially one that does a big breakfast spread right. First thing you notice walking in is how neat the place looks – it’s got a clean, inviting design and some really cozy outdoor seats. The food hit the spot. We tucked into the big Turkish breakfast, tried spinach gozleme, and couldn’t resist the scrambled chili eggs – everything tasted fresh and downright delicious. They serve coffee roasted by Marrickville's De Luca, and you get to pick from some top-notch single origins for aficionados. Also, if you’ve got a thing for Turkish pastries, you’re in for a treat here. The service? Spot on. It all comes together to create a laid-back, feel-good atmosphere. I happily give Malika a solid 10 out of 10 for making our breakfast a...

Everyone is right, the food (and coffee) here is phenomenally good. But we were made to feel super unwelcome by the staff today! At numerous points while we were eating our breakfast, staff would arrive at our table and attempt to remove food and drinks that were clearly not finished (as in not even ask if we were done, just taking things off our table) and were quite unfriendly when we informed them we were still eating. While I understand it’s the Saturday morning rush, and we were mindful of people waiting for a table, other people appeared to be sitting down quite leisurely - we left in well under an hour because we felt really uncomfortable, despite wanting to stay for more...

Bored of basic brunch so decided to check out Malika. Everything looked so good and the seatings looked so inviting for catch up with friends or just solo dining. Loved the options available and great vibes all around with its eye catching, retro colour palette.
