Staff were extremely unwelcoming. Manager was sitting at the bar and kept shooting us dirty looks throughout our whole evening. After we arrived it seemed that we were being targeted all evening. Bar staff kept whispering and pointing to us, even though we weren’t rowdy, half of us were sober, and the other half had only begun drinking once we arrived (maybe one overpriced cocktail in). Before our food arrived, the manager (who was sitting at the bar so had seemingly finished her shift) had walked outside and grabbed some bottles and cans that had apparently been left outside and proceeded to wave them in our faces saying “do these belong to anyone/look familiar??” In an extremely aggravated tone. I understand the frustrations of hospitality having worked in it for 2 years but this was beyond rude and I would never speak to my guests in such a way. Finally, as we got up to leave one of our friends accidentally knocked the table with his knees causing a glass to topple and break on the ground. He apologised and went to pick it up with his hands when the manager said “don’t bother, you guys are leaving.” If we had been antisocial or drunk I would have understood her frustration but it seemed that she was ticked off from the minute we entered. Not to mention when we went to pay there were numerous errors in our bill but it was adjusted after a lot of back and forth. Overall we had a very ‘meh’ experience and won’t be back for one of their OK burgers and overpriced cocktails that taste like they just threw a bunch of random liquids...
Read moreI booked a table here to see some familiar faces. i’m new the area but worked as the bar manager for Marys castle hill for about a year, and had been working with the Marys group for three years previous. I booked the table under my full name with my contact details and when I arrived, they informed me that the owners of the company didn’t want me to eat here and i had to leave. The bar manager couldn’t give me a reason as to why that would be the case and just told me it was upper management and he had no responsibility in the matter. It would have been nice if they would have cancelled the booking or informed me before i arrived at the venue, or maybe, taken me aside instead of embarrassing me in a restaurant full of people…but that’s just the Marys way. Dine and dash. Pump and Dump. They are happy to have all of the free murals I painted for them still up on the walls but not happy to have me eat burger with my partner and Play a game of pool. Or even treat me with any dignity. Oh and they purposefully don’t even keep a phone line. so that you can’t call when they want to bully or treat guests disrespectfully even when easily avoided. If they would have let me buy food- it goes pretty hard. The hot sauce is usually not unexpectedly spicy. 🌶️
Attached is Pete the manager’s email response. Don’t go to Marys if you have unresolved...
Read moreWent on Friday night to try as we have been to other locations. Staff were unfortunately very rude and not wanting to help at all. Had to ask 3 times and two different staff just to get the bill which took 20mins. The security guard was the only professional staff member in the whole place. We had to wait an hour to get food and only came after I politely checked how much longer to see if we should get another drink before or after the food. The problem seemed to be all the food was being sent out with online orders, as only 1 other table was served inside the venue during this whole time (6 burgers served in 60mins). I understand the need for venues to do takeaway these days but please serve your dine in customers too. The food was mediocre at best, the burger was not to bad but had about an inch cube of lettuce and 1 slice of tomato. The burger was swimming in sauce which was terrible. The chips were overcooked to the point they were not edible. I can safely say we will not be going back anytime soon and hope they improve their...
