One of my most favourite dish is LanZhou Beef noodles.
I have been trying it in many different places in Sydney. And I have also tried the a few in China.
The soup is perfect. Great broth. Soup temperature is great too.
The noodles, the flour the cooking time of the noodles is my favourite so far in Sydney. It’s a little bit chewy and on the harder side, my favourite texture. I don’t like when it’s overcooked becoming very soft and watery. But this restaurant never disappoints me. I really hope this will never change.
Beef sizes and noodles sizes were great too, I’m a big eater it’s a reasonable size.
As for the dumplings, I have tried the steamed and fried are over 50 dumplings. perhaps not my favourite, it would be great if the dumplings skin can be thinner as it’s slightly too thick. Also dumplings are on the smaller side. But I visited the place while it has the 30cents per dumplings deal. Certainly the Chinese noodles restaurant beside has better dumplings at this stage. I’ll see when the deal is gone will they improve the quality of the dumplings.
Place is clean and staff are helpful.
This restaurant will be a great competition to the other Chinese restaurants around.
Been here couple times already, can’t wait to visit this place next time (very...
Read moreDelightful! Ate here for dinner on a relatively busy night with a friend. We both ordered the 'Pork and chicken wontons and handmade noodles with minced pork in sweet chilli sauce' - the sauce wasn't particularly sweet nor spicy. Personally, the noodles were cooked perfectly and soaked up the sauce, albeit a tad too oily though, while my friend thought they might have been undercooked. Not sure if it was just a busy night or if the wonton meat was supposed to be pink, but it was a bit alarming to see such a bright colour. Can't fault the pork mince though! So lovely to take a bite of noodles and shovel a spoonful of pork after.
Overall, massive portions, amazing noodles, on the fence about the wontons, but would come back to try their Lanzhou noodles and pan fried buns!
Tip: Add chilli oil! They come in pots on (most of) the tables but I recommend adding more chilli than oil. It's both spicy and flavourful; great for adding a whole new layer of...
Read moreOK let’s be honest here. The restaurant has Beef Noodles in its name, so they have to be good, right? Well, I ordered the Stir Fried Flat Rice Noodles with Beef. An easy dish to get right and make tasty. This was a disaster. So oily, the noodles were glistening and slippery. Most of them were stuck together, sometimes four or five caked shut. Surely they could be separated during cooking?! The beef, though not much of it, was tender and tasty. But the dish had almost no flavour. All I could taste was oil. And no “wok hei” charred flavour. Even the bean sprouts did not taste fresh. Then, when paying, they slap a flat 50 cents fee on top for paying by card and not ordering $30 worth of food. Service was fine. But there is no excuse for the quality of the food. Bad. Better to go to one of Chinatowns food courts where the volume of cooking in a hot wok produces a far better, tastier result. Not...
