Ocean Bakehouse — Restaurant in Sydney

After being recommended to go by a friend, we ordered a BBQ Pork Viet Roll and Vegetable Rice Rolls. My wife accidently misread the board and asked for Mixed Vegetable Roll, so she was given what I presume is the Mixed roll with meat inside.

She didn't want to correct them because she felt rushed when taking the order, so I returned to change it over. I found the young staff were incredibly ill-mannered and arguably, arrogant. There was no presence of customer service, or simple good manners. Another member of staff was whispering in the ear of the member of staff I was speaking to, I have no idea what was so important. And, when explaining the mix-up, the staff seemed to be so put out by the request to swap, as if I shouldn't have returned at all. We sincerely apologise for misreading your poorly scribed blackboard menu...

And, the food wasn't even that good, average at best. Rice roll fell apart, poorly wrapped/loose and not sure what the sauce used in the Viet roll was, but tasted like cheap mayo/salad cream.

We would've considered a return to try different products, had the customer service been better. But, it wasn't.

Not recommended unless you know exactly what you want before entering, or if you enjoy the simplicity of good...

Fresh baked foods and cakes. Good coffee as well.

Some of their desserts I would give it a miss (i.e. Portuguese tarts and 'crème brûlée are the ones I tried. Imperfect ratio of egg vs milk), not as it should be at all. Vanilla slice seemed nice, but I didn't try it.

The meat pie is actually tasty: just right amount of gravy so the pie was not dry and well-seasoned. Definitely get it again. However, their quiches were way too salty (I had quiche lorraine, and all I could tast was salty ham and more salt). I'll give their other pie fillings a go, just maybe not their quiches!

I do like their extensive menu, though: milkshakes, Vietnamese pork rolls, 'thick shakes', steamed pork dim sims.

Friendly service and fast, especially when it's busy, but allow some time when it's during meal rush hours.

Lovely spot in Narrabeen for snacks and...

While this bakery has a great selection of food and baked goods, we found the staff to be pushy and in a hurry to get us out of the store, despite visiting a few hours before closing time.

The minute we walked in we were asked what we wanted, having had only 5 seconds to browse. This was repeated several times while we were clearly still looking at the products and even after indicating that we were deciding what to buy.

To top off this ‘customer service experience’, the second we paid for our purchase and swiped our card, all communication from the staff ceased. My partner and I both thanked the young man and wished him a good day, which didn’t event prompt a glance in our direction let alone any kind of response.

This is an absolute zero in our books for customer service. Even the self-serve checkout at Coles says...
