Penrith Chinese — Restaurant in Sydney

The food at this restaurant is on par with mediocre chinese takeaway and is not something to be expectantly looked up for. Upon dining here for a total of three times, the first two experiences were ones that were of good service and accommodation. However, on our most recent visit, we were met with inadequate customer serving skills by a waitress. Immediately greeted with grunts and obvious signs of distaste, she had made snide comments about our orders and exhibited unwillingness to do her job by taking our orders. Whether it be the time or day or amount of customers, this factor should not affect the way you approach customers who plan to eat AND pay at your restaurant. This certain waitress was continuously showcasing intermittents of laziness, making the experience of dining at Penrith Chinese Restaurant one leaves a bitter taste in our mouth. She argued and visibly presented her frustration at us and it was extremely unpleasant, stating that we “did not give her the chance” to give us fortune cookies when we asked nicely. This is a prime example of an individual’s inability to be of proper hospitable service. Not recommended, please seek other restaurants with an atmosphere that does not make you feel uncomfortable. I’d not been back for a while. New owners, same freshness and as far as I can tell menu and recipes. I’ve had three business lunches here in the last month and each have been quick and efficient, tasted delicious and with very friendly service. Bringing the family back for dinner soon!

1 year ago: FRESH AS ! Just had another fantastic meal here and thought I should write it up. Starting with chicken/corn soup was the best I've had - unusually good for such a simple normally unremarkable dish. The soft shell crab was a standout that is worth a trip to this restaurant alone to try, and I've had this dish every time I've been there; it is exceptional every time, without fail - Don't miss SOFT SHELL CRAB! Sang Choy Bow was also delicious with finely diced charsiu (honey roasted pork) amongst lots of other tasty ingredients. Tofu hot pot, Chicken Sate were also excellent. Noteworthy that food is SO fresh every time (unlike other restaurants which can be great one day and pretty poor another). If i could rate this a 0 then I would, absolutely shockingly rude staff! Had a go at me because my son took his apple juice pop top with him & he was drinking it!! The boss said he wasn't allowed to drink it because we didn't buy it from the Chinese restaurant! My son is 2! How dare she tell me my son can't drink his drink! She was so rude! She also put a surcharge on our bill because my son was drinking a drink from home! I will never return to eat from here again! The boss needs to learn to be nice! As we were walking out after we paid She continued to abuse us as well as infront of another customer!!
