TL;DR: Epic Margherita. Overhyped Hot honey. 50+ min wait for food.
Thank god the margherita here gives you more than 3 leaves of basil. There is nothing worse than getting a Neapolitan margherita pizza and having to split 3 leaves across the 6 slices…
The Margherita is both aesthetically appealing and delicious. Beautifully leopard-spotted and the dough is perfectly crisp and airy, and holds its shape when held. The pomodoro is balanced in sweetness and acidity and composition of the whole thing is so good. We added anchovies to this and it was chefs kiss
The Hot Honey was just ok. It gets blown up heaps on social media, but we actually didn’t find it to be that crazy. It’s nice — but it isn’t something we would order again. It is quite cheese-heavy and dense in terms of mouthfeel with the layer of ricotta and fior di latte. One of the anchovies from the Margherita fell on the plate and when eaten with the Hot Honey was a nice saltiness to cut through the sweetness of this pizza… so maybe something worth exploring.
We waited over 50 minutes for 2 pizzas. It was a really long time. People sitting near us were also complaining/checking to see where their food was. I think it would’ve been a nice touch if waitstaff just gave us a quick heads up how far away the pizzas would be. We definitely wouldn’t have minded a wait if we knew roughly whereabouts the...
Read moreI came here because the place looked nice. It’s spacious, has a good vibe, and even has private rooms that seemed perfect for groups.
I ordered the Rick & Morty pizza with burrata, which was around the mid-$30 range. You order through a QR code at the table, but I paid cash at the bar counter.
I gave $40, and the woman at the counter — dark, mid-length hair — told me to wait a bit because they didn’t have enough change. The area around the bar was busy, so I just went back to my seat and waited.
The pizza took almost 40 minutes to come out, and even getting a glass of water took more than 10 minutes after I asked.
After I finished eating, I went back to ask for my change. The same woman just said, “Oh, I put it in the tip jar. You weren’t there.” I never said she could keep the change, and honestly, the service wasn’t even close to deserving a tip. This is Australia — tipping isn’t expected. I was honestly shocked by how casually she said that.
Yes, I came back after eating instead of waiting around at the counter, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay to just take someone’s money without asking. The whole attitude and service were disappointing from beginning to end.
The experience was so frustrating I couldn’t even enjoy the food properly. I still don’t know if the pizza was actually good, because the service left a much stronger impression than...
Read moreWe had a booking for 7pm and were seated at a high table with bar stools, which was uncomfortable. It was a bit disappointing since there were regular tables available, but the booking process hadn’t given us the option to request seating preference. I couldn’t help wondering why we were placed there despite having a reservation.
The restaurant itself is quite noisy, making it difficult to hold a conversation without raising our voices. It’s definitely more of a lively “pizza and drinks with friends/colleagues” kind of atmosphere rather than a relaxed or romantic dining spot.
Ordering is done via QR code at the table. We placed an order for three pizzas (Hot Honey, Cacio e Pepe, and Mortadella) and three drinks at 7:12pm, which came to around $120. Unfortunately, the wait was very long—the pizzas didn’t start arriving until 8:05pm, one by one. I understand Friday nights get busy, but nearly an hour for three pizzas felt excessive.
The dough itself was well-made, but the flavour profiles of the pizzas we tried didn’t quite justify the hype or the price. The Hot Honey pizza in particular was overloaded with cheese and oil—after a couple of slices it became overwhelming.
I always want to support local spots, but overall this experience didn’t meet my expectations. Perhaps the restaurant is just a...
