My wife and I were so excited to try this place when we were looking for a pizza place around St Leonard’s given the high google review rating and very positive feedback posted by other customers.
Unfortunately, our experience did not meet expectation. We ordered the Seafood Stunner which turned out to be quite salty. I’m not sure if it was supposed to be that way, but it definitely wasn’t an experience we enjoyed given the price point of the pizza. But what really disappointed us more was the garlic bread. Simply, it was burnt on one side and quite tough and chewy on the other side. But to top it off, I seemed to have been charged $2 more than I should have been. Obviously, this last issue is our fault for not checking the price on the eftpos machine at point of sale, but I will list it here as an issue as the vendor should have ensured the correct price was inputed into the eftpos machine at the time of payment.
This negative experience could have possibly been a one off issue, but unfortunately it has made me wish I just ordered at...
Read moreThis review is long overdue. I have had the pleasure of dining at Pizza D’oro on four occasions. The first occasion, I thought everything was perfection - the food, the team and the atmosphere. Yet with each visit, they set the bar even higher. I’m not usually one to go half/half on a pizza, but you just want to eat the whole menu which has more than one choice to suit all tastes (including 11 year olds who usually only choose ham and pineapple). If you’re lucky, Michael will invite you to sample off the menu toppings or surprise you with desert! Recently I’ve had the misfortune of being put on a low FODMAP diet, which if you do the research, stops you from eating at most restaurants in Sydney. Michael made me a pizza with gluten free base, no garlic tomato pizza sauce and FODMAP friendly toppings. I couldn’t be more grateful. I highly recommend Pizza D’Oro whether you get the chance to eat with the Beautiful Pizza D’Oro team Lisa, Michael and Christian or get yourself a delivery of there authentic Italian...
Read morePizza D'oro, St Leonards, you glorious bastards of dough and deliciousness. This place? An institution. A legend. A testament to the power of pizza. It's like watching a master craftsman pass down their secrets, and then watching the next generation take it to a whole new level of awesome. It's beautiful, really.
And the pizzas? Bloody awesome doesn't even begin to cover it. What I love most? The menu. It's not some bloated, overwhelming tome of pizza possibilities. It's a carefully curated selection of masterpieces. Every single pizza on that menu is a work of art, crafted with precision and passion. It's like they've taken the "less is more" philosophy and applied it to pizza, and the results are spectacular.
Seriously, if you're looking for pizza that'll make your tastebuds sing, head to Pizza D'oro. It's a reminder that some things are worth preserving, worth celebrating, and worth eating until you're in a happy, pizza-induced coma. Bravo, Pizza...
