I had the worst experience with the staff working in this pub yesterday. I went there with my husband at 11pm last night. We both worked till late and so, decided to have a bit of drink. (it was Friday night too.) We ordered 2 pints of beer. When we drank half the pint, a big security guy came up to us and asked my husband how many beers he had drunk. My husband speaks little English but responded to the man, it was his first beer. Security man thought he had said “5 beers” instead of “ first beer”. I explained the man that my husband speaks little English and that it was his very first beer and my first one too for the day. I asked the security man why he had asked that question. We were just sitting on a table, two of us, and chatting. We were not drunk at all as it was our first beer. I asked the security man again what was the reason he had asked my husband that question. To me, my husband was not drunk at all, and there were many young people around us talking and laughing loudly with red face on them and obviously “drunk”. The security man then said to us that the manager had asked him to ask my husband. It was quite upsetting that the security man and the manager thought we were drunk when we had not even finished our very first beer. My husband then went to the counter to get the second beer. This time, we wanted to have schooner. After a few minutes, he came back telling me, “they ignore me”. “They are serving drinks to others but not to me. The staff saw me waiting, but didn’t want to serve any drink.” He went back to the counter again soon after that, and this time, brought 2 schooners to our table.
I was so upset that they had thought we were drunk and did not want to serve any drink to my husband. While we were drinking the second beer, a lady came up to our table, appearing very drunk, spilling her own beer on our table, asking us if she could share the table. Her gait was unsteady and it was clear that she was VERY drunk. I had to tell her that we could not. ( if she had not been drunk, this had not been the case. )
We finished our second beer, and as I walked inside the pub from the courtyard, I saw the manager in the counter.
I asked her why they asked my husband how many beers he had drunk. She said she thought he had been drunk. I voiced my frustration around this matter. I explained that it was quite rude that they thought we were drunk. I emphasized that it was our very first beer for the day, and we were not drunk. Then she said to us “as you have seen, we are asking many people the same question, not only you”. we both did not see the security guy asking those young drunk men if they were drunk or how many drinks they had had. We did NOT see it. We saw the security man was walking around, and the manager too. However, they did not ask that drunk lady who spilled her beer on our table how many beers she had drunk. The manager said to us, “we thought you were drunk, but realized you were not, so we didn’t kick you out”
I am quite sure we were the most sober clients among all those loud clients, and they don’t get asked that silly question and they don’t get kicked out. The drunk lady spilling her beer with unsteady gait was not asked how many drinks she had had and didn’t get kicked out.
Manager, it is very hard to understand how you became a manager if you are not capable of distinguish who is drunk and who is not. You definitely picked a wrong client. You should go to school and learn social and communication skill, and then go buy a proper...

Another great time at the venue and we decided to try out the restaurant and it was simply amazing. Started with a baked cheese and sour dough bread and this was bursting with flavour and a must have!
Lamb shank with mashed potatoes and heirloom tomatoes was super delicious and will be ordering again on my next visit. Rib Eye with duck fat chips and mushroom sauce was cooked perfectly.
Continues to deliver great food, drinks and atmosphere each time.
April 2023 Bistro (Ground Floor)
This is a really amazing place for drinks and food, providing tasty pub classics with their best selling freshly cooked in house pies. Many food options for everyone.
I have had their pies in the past and definitely a crowd pleaser today I ordered the Southern Fried Crispy Chicken Burger and it was out of this world. Served with a side of shoestring fries, perfectly paired with a couple of beers.
Conviently located with ample seating, friendly staff and fast service and one of the most popular places to visit for many workers for lunch, dinner, and drinks. Also has an upstair restaurant with an a la carte menu for lunch or dinner.
Overall great experience with plenty of drink options with tasty and...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I got kicked out (were literally having a chill time w our mates) because a boring song was going on during the Karaoke section, and I decided to close my eyes and laid my head on my boyfriend shoulder cos I was bored. The short security guy came to my boyfriend and sai WE ARE GETTING KICKED OUT because he saw me when i was closing my eyes. The security dude even didnt check up on me to see if i'm ok or what is going on. I then open my eyes looking sober, not drunk not drugged and he still told us to leave because that is it, no explanation, no giving a care if i was ok or not just wanted to kick us out cos I WAS CLOSING MY EYES FOR NO MORE THAN 10 SECONDS. I don't think that is how customers should be treated (not mentioning that we have paid for a few drinks already and waiting in queue to sing).
ANYONE WHO WANTS TO CLOSE YOUR EYES FOR MORE THAN 10 SECONDS DONT COME HERE. would have left 0 start if possible.
Plus the fact that he even didn't talk to me but my boyfriend - he could be RACIST because i'm Asian and maybe to him I don't speak English because he didn't even explain a word to me but only to my white boyfriend and another white guy who was being nice and asked us...
