Dopa Donburi - Victoria Cross — Restaurant in Sydney

Had a very sincere and great experience here. I usually come to Dopa on my break as their regular coffee is a bit cheaper than other cafes, at $3.90 so it’s good to save a penny when I can. I was on my 10 minute break today but there was no one at the counter making coffee, and it had exceeded to around 15 minutes and I was worried how to tell my supervisor id be late ! I did not say anything though, remained waiting at the counter politely. Around the 15 minute mark this employee came to me with my large Capp and a complimentary Japanese cheesecake 🥹 he apologised for the wait even though I had not even complained and they were low on staff. Really nice and friendly staff. I just bought a drink from the cafe opposite to Dopa and suddenly felt like having a donburi lol. The staff was chill with me bringing my drink in.

The restautant was small and very clean with a lovely ochre counter to dine in.

The chicken karaage bowl I ordered was very well balanced in texture: crispy fried chicken and soft rice topped by a runny onsen tamago cooked to perfection, interesting crunchy dried seaweed and a splash of sesame. Had a great experience at Dopa Donburi Victoria Cross today! Cute shop with Japan-inspired signs and merchandise. Very clean premises. Had a tofu bowl brunch. It came with perfectly cooked rice, 2 big pieces of melt-in-the-mouth tofu and a beautiful low temperature cooked poached egg. Attention to detail makes the dish pleasant to the eye and more-ish. And it's great to see they are using coffee beans from Stitch Coffee. The only regret is not to have my food and long black served in proper played and cups. Thanks Dopa for my lovely...
