After a wonderful experience at the Parramatta restaurant, we decided to try the North Sydney branch. While the food was just as great, the service was not. The chef and server were fine (although not attentive), but the manager was very rude. He seemed annoyed at us from the start and was very blunt and short with us. He was visibly disgruntled when he asked if we wanted the coffee before or after our food was made and we said before.
To top it off, we spent a couple of minutes cleaning up our table, stacking our cutlery and plates neatly up on one tray and wiping down the table so as to not leave a trace. As we walked up to the counter to pay, he pointed at our table and in a stern and displeased tone said “plates!”. We didn’t know what he meant but had a look around and realised he wanted us to pick up the tray from the table and put the contents in a little bin. We had no idea this was what we were supposed to do, and it was not how the other restaurant worked either. Nonetheless we did it, and on our way out whilst paying he was vaguely nice and attentive to us for the first time, just to say “Tell your friends about us!”.
There was another group there at the same time as us who seemed to be the same race as the manager, and we are different race. He seemed to be nice and attentive to them. They also left their trays and mess on the table and he said nothing to them about it as they walked out. Maybe it was nothing, and it’s pure speculation, but maybe racism is an issue here with this manager too.
It’s a great meal out but I would highly recommend you go to the Parramatta restaurant instead where the food is just as good (if not better) and the service is awesome with really friendly and...
Read moreDear Rama Subramanian, customers post Thier views based on how they were treated and served....you are only copy pasting below response for any rating that is one star....thus is sufficient to show that you are not interested in improving customer experience all you care is more 5 stars and revenue.....
Mysore masala dosa was way too spicy and rava dosa was not good, masala dosa tasted like stale masala....and the ordering platform and the guy running the show are the worst...If you are in service I dustry you have no right to be rude or cold to the customers...

Date 9June 2024: Yet another encounter of staff discretion based services. I walked in on 9 june 2024 for a take away. Asked the staff member for a take away he swiftly pointed out to the takeaway qr code where the payment is not integrated so no way to just click and pay had to either choose thier web link to pay or provide card details manually. In the mean while another customer walks in for take away and the staff member punched the order on system which took less than a second.
Ypu should have one way of taking the take away orders or tell the customers that the order can be placed on the system rather than asking the customers to use qr code.
Stick to one way or provide let the customers know of the...
Read moreThere are two types of South Indian people.
Some go to restaurants just for food.. *Coffee or Tea is optional.
Others (*I) go to a restaurant for a Good Soul full Aromatic Coffee.. *Food is optional.
I classify myself as a category 2 person. I go to a South Indian restaurant for a Good Soulfull Aromatic Coffee. I was extremely disappointed with the coffee served at the Saravanaa Bhavan North Sydney which is located on Miller Street, North Sydney. The coffee they served was totally unacceptable. The coffee had no aroma or soul in it - It was just a blunt coffee served with a paper cup. I even requested the coffee master to redo the coffee to be strong and aromatic. He made the coffee worse than before, the worst coffee I had tasted in ages. Moreover, they charge a premium price which is $10 for 2 coffees and $109.55 for food, *which was Mediacore.
The funniest part is that they named the Coffee a Madras Coffee - Filter Coffee, shame on them. I should have offered the coffee to the owner or the stakeholder to drink the coffee themselves...
I ate better food in a smaller boutique South Indian Restaurant in Australia (Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne) with a good coffee and also reasonably priced (*Half the price of what Saravanaa Bhavan charges)
I would not recommend Saravanaa Bhavan nor visit them again soon.
Thank you for your very overrated service🙏
Note for management: I also accessed the Toilet, which was not clean. The Public toilets in Sydney are cleaner than Saravanaa Bhavan...
