Attending the Big Bash League 2024 match at ENGIE Stadium was an unforgettable experience for our family. The atmosphere was absolutely electric, with fans cheering passionately and the stadium buzzing with excitement from start to finish. The energy of the crowd made the night even more thrilling, and we enjoyed every moment of the game. Watching the players in action under the bright stadium lights was truly mesmerizing, and the level of talent on display was top-notch.
The highlight of the night, especially for the kids, came after the match when we had the chance to meet the players. Taking photos and getting autographs was such a special experience. The players were so friendly and patient, making the kids feel like little superstars. It’s not every day you get to meet your cricket heroes up close, and this interaction made the evening even more memorable.
ENGIE Stadium itself was impressive, with great facilities, smooth entry and exit, and plenty of food and drink options to keep everyone happy. It was a perfect family outing, combining thrilling live cricket action with moments we’ll cherish forever. We can’t wait to come back for another Big Bash game and relive this...
Read moreTo answer a few comments here yes, this Stadium was purpose built for baseball originally. The teardrop configuration of many baseball stadia is evident and home plate was located at the ANZ Stadium end. The first sporting event played was the 1999 IBAF InterContinental Cup, a test event for the 2000 Olympics. As a volunteer I witnessed a great final between Cuba and Australia. The Aussies won in extra innings - a great feat against the 26 times (real) World Champions. It was then used for the Olympics as the main venue with Blacktown Olympic Park as the second venue during the preliminaries. The USA won their first ever (and only) Gold Medal for baseball at this venue. Brooklyn / Los Angeles Dodgers famous player / manager Tommy Lasorda was the USA skipper. It has not been used for baseball since, the primary Sydney venue being located to the three field complex at Blacktown where the Australian League Sydney Blue Sox are located. And to answer another misinformed comment, yes, Aussies are proud to say we have been playing the sport since around 1860's, much longer than many other sports. We have been ranked as high as number three in the World. Baseball - an...
Read moreSydney Showground is a popular venue for exhibitions and events in Sydney. While the location is easily accessible and the venue itself is well-equipped, my recent visit left me feeling underwhelmed. The organization and flow of the event I attended could have been better managed. The exhibits were poorly laid out and difficult to navigate, which detracted from the overall experience. Additionally, the lack of seating areas and limited food options made it a less comfortable experience.
That being said, the facilities themselves are impressive. The main hall is spacious and well-lit, and there are ample restrooms throughout the venue. The parking is also quite convenient, with plenty of spaces available. However, given the high cost of admission and the overall experience, I cannot recommend Sydney Showground as a top choice for exhibitions and events in Sydney.
Overall, while the venue has potential, there is significant room for improvement in terms of organization and amenities. For those attending an event at Sydney Showground, it may be worth doing some research beforehand to ensure that the event is well-planned...
