My partner and I often look for new Italian restaurants to indulge in our children free meals, and Scala Lane met every expectation. We were greeted by a lovely gentleman and although being 20 minutes early for our reservation were seated immediately. Upon entering the restaurant the simple yet elegant decor was warm and inviting with minimal details yet ever so welcoming. Kicking off dinner with a cocktail and an Italian white we were overwhelmed with choice for a simple menu, we ordered the Crudo Kingfish that was sweet and citrusy transporting my taste buds to the Almafi coast and stracciatella with Heirloom tomatoes and the winner the Beef carpaccio drizzled with toasted hazelnuts and semi sun dried tomatoes. Mains were the prawn linguine with house made pasta and asparagus risotto which was served on a flat plate and cooked to perfection, the rice was shimmering and flavorful i am still thinking about it. We followed with one of the best tiramisu i have had in Australia scooped table side by the head chef himself - no cream was in site but a traditional recipe that was the perfect way to end a meal light and the right amount of sweetness. The highlight of the evening was meeting the lovely lady who owned the restaurant bouncing around with such pride and energy, as she should of the amazing establishment she has created. Do yourself a favour and book a table immediately i cant wait to get back and try the experience again. Well done...
Read moreThis place is hidden in a quiet lane and I thought I got lost for a second until I saw the neon sign of their restaurant. I was welcomed with warmth though.
Surprisingly the place was already busy by the time I got there and my friend and I were placed next to the payment counter, which I didn’t like. Though I understood that the room was a tad small and booking might have been full for that night.
Their food and drinks menu wasn’t impressive to me. We had hard time deciding what to order. We ordered stuffed zucchini flowers and scallop carpaccio for entrees and they didn’t disappoint. My favorite was the zucchini flowers as it was flavorsome with the cheese filling, which I couldn’t get enough of. Wish the portion was bigger.
We had rigatoni al porcini and prawn linguine for mains and they were average to me. Rigatoni al porcini wasn’t done well to me as their noodles were not soft enough. Furthermore, the sauce and ingredients did not complement each other well.
Prawn linguine tasted better as it was more flavorful with their spicy red sauce. Though it only came with one big prawn and there’s pieces of prawn scattered in the noodles. Wasn’t impressed by it either.
All in all, I had a pleasant dining experience to celebrate my friend’s dinner here. We had tiramisu as dessert and the server was kind enough to put a candle on it for my friend. The tiramisu was mostly cream and there was hardly any sponge layer in it. Was...

Think chic and cozy, with an intimate vibe that’s moody without feeling cramped. Perfect for date nights, catch-ups, or that fancy solo dinner you’ve been craving.
We kicked things off with their warm, fluffy Focaccia paired with creamy, indulgent Stracciatella — a match made in heaven! 🥖🧀 Next up, the Kingfish Crudo, light and fresh, was the ideal palate cleanser. For mains, we couldn’t get enough of the Tagliatelle Al Ragu — perfectly al dente with a rich, comforting sauce, just like a hug from Nonna. And the Grilled Tuna was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavour.
But let’s not forget dessert... the Tiramisu was an absolute dream! A big scoop of yummy, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness. Honestly, one of the best I’ve had in Sydney! ☕🍰
