Wednesday 13th December 2023 Went there first time with my parents, also first time, just to try. Really regret having to lose almost $50-$60 worth of meals:-
I had the super lamb soup (the first picture you see on the menu in the soup section). Tasteless and bland. Had to add chilli sauce and some pepper onto my soup to get the flavour and abit of salt 🧂. Lamb was dry and over cooked. Loved the flat noodles texture though.
my dad had the beef noodle soup with tripe and tendon.... Tripe was rarely and barely seen in the soup bowl and there's more noodles and soup alone than any other ingredients. Noodles were soggy. Like it's been soaked into the soup for too long
My mum had the beef brisket noodle soup. Noodles also soggy but the beef was ok.
Not a comfortable atmosphere
Bad service set up. You literally had to choose things on the menu and had to get up out of your seat and walk to the counter to order. And it felt like that lady that served me at the counter seems like she doesn't want to be there.
Menu needs updates and upgrades. Re print the menu, and put it into a display folder might be nice and neat. They give menus on clipboards 📋!!!!!!! And the edges of the paper on the menu makes it look untidy.
Restaurant should be cleaner and with better decor!!! There's no "brightness" as you walk inside the place looks pretty dull.
No ceiling fan, or table top fan to circulate the air.
Lamb skewers ain't worth the price. EXTREMELY SMALL. THOSE THAT WANT TO TRY THIS, DO NOT ORDER THIS. IT ISN'T WORTH IT. WANT BETTER LAMB SKEWERS? GO TO THE 1915 Lanzhou beef noodles it's much more worth it there. And even the food is MILLIONS TIMES better. And there's a place at Auburn near the train station, called TARIM UYGHUR CUISINE, on Rawson Street. Even lamb skewers are bigger. Food is delicious there.
Bad service, bad atmosphere, bad food, bad restaurant. Not clean!!! Too small Bad dining experience. I'm surprised they're still running the business. Overall, 0/5 star. WILL NOT COME BACK again despite the fact I loved the texture of the flat noodles. The biang biang noodles around the corner past the chicken restaurant is better. Better texture on the noodles and more flavoursome. Sorry, won't be back. Waste of money for a disappointing lunch. And it's like everyone working at that restaurant are just plain lazy. And more soup and noodles than anything else just kills the...

Shang Lamb Soup in Hurstville is a small restaurant based in Hurstville that specialises in making Lamb-based soup made from cooking down Lamb Bones for a long period of time so that the flavour really develops.
Aside from the noodle soup that they have on their menu, they do have BBQed skewers on offer that have the flavours of Cumin and Chilli on them. In addition, they serve a range of offal-based dishes and other items on their menu.
☆ SUPER LAMB GUTS SOUP (HEART, LUNG & TRIPE) WITH POTATO NOODLES ($14.80)
When l saw that Shang Lamb Soup has a noodle soup with the offal pieces of Lamb added to it, l knew immediately l had to get it. At the first taste of the broth, you can really taste the essence of the Lamb.
The Potato Noodles in the soup offer a lovely texture as they have a nice bounce to them from the elasticity of the noodle. Each individual offal part of the Lamb has been cooked beautifully, offering a slight chew which makes you enjoy the flavour of the Lamb even more as you eat. I love to add a lot of Black Pepper to the milky white Lamb-based Soup as l love the aroma and pungent spice in every spoonful of soup l get.
☆ BBQ CHICKEN SKIN ($5)
This is the perfect drinking food as it is served in a bowl and has been seasoned with a combination of Dried Cumin Powder and Dried Chilli Flakes.
The Chicken Skin was very crispy with a bit of heat from the dried Chilli Powder sprinkled onto it. Definitely, a nice snack to have while you wait for the rest of the dishes to come.
☆ BBQ LAMB RIBS ($21.80)
You cannot miss out on ordering the BBQ Lamb Ribs here as they had a lovely crispy surface with a nice ratio of fat to meat on them. I love how they really went hard with applying the Xinjiang-based seasoning with your choice of heat level to the Lamb Ribs so that they are really coated with flavour.
☆ BBQ LAMB SHANK ($16.80)
First time coming across a BBQ Lamb Shank on a menu. The Lamb Shank was so tender that there was no resistance to taking it off the bone. I would definitely recommend this as it had a lovely ratio of fat to meat which just melted on your palate. Shang Lamb Soup adds a mound of Xinjiang-flavour seasoning to the heat level you request so that you can add additional seasoning...
Read moreDespite being located on an unostentatious street hidden under the noise of constant traffic, this small enclave has struck gold with its Chinese patrons as an extremely popular lamb noodle joint. I've come across the restaurant packed out at dinner time and we were lucky to have finished up right before the after-work customers started rolling in. The only server at the front was quite energetic and cheery with a loud, local accent that was surprising at first but had evidently resonated with the regulars. Our order of three BBQ lamb skewers, zhajiangmian and super lamb soup with flat noodles came out to us at a reasonable speed. The skewers were not substantial but was immense with mouth-watering deliciousness. The mixture of lean and fatty cuts allowed me to appreciate both the richness of the lamb and the chef's expert choice of spices. Contrary to a thick coating of sauce, the zhajiangmian was lacking in umami power as the meagre serving of viscous broth had settled at the bottom of the bowl. Though I enjoyed the aromas of scallions, pork and oil that wafted from the zhajiangmian and throughout my mouth. Their signature dish, the super lamb noodle soup, definitely did not let us down with its generous serving and soothing flavours. Tender slices of lamb and smooth, bouncy noodles all soaked in a milky, pepper soup that heals the soul. I was particularly impressed with the quality of the noodles used in the dishes that made it pleasant to slurp and savour. Understandably, due to prices, the lamb portions are small but I believe the restaurant would live up to its name if there was more meat in the dishes. Nevertheless, it has already succeeded in putting its name out there with its attractive flavours and I'm more than happy to walk through their doors again for a heart-warming bowl of lamb...
