I lived locally and occasionally get coffee and breakfast from here. Coffee and food is 3/5 and a very convenient place for meet up. I wanted to highlight the table policy and the staff attitude especially the lady waitress that speak so loudly to me and my friend today. I noted that there is a sign saying please wait to be seated. Few months ago when I was there I obediently waited at the sign but no one came to serve and tables are taken by people who came later. So I went to the counter to order, once ordered the lady asked where is my table? I said I havenāt got a table yet so she answered sorry you need to takeaway as there are no table available. And today my friend really wanted to have their coffee and there are few tables available when we reach the place. Based on the last experience we decided to get one of the table without the reservation signage and start to order through the online menu scanned via the table. When we are almost done with ordering the same lady waitress came over and speak loudly asking have we ordered because there is a customer ordering on the counter saying they wanted to sit on our table but we have taken it and says we can have a table inside instead. No apologies or explanation that the table is actually reserved at all. Shuk Chatswood please sort out your ordering policy. Is it wait for table and allocate a table to us then come to take our order? Or order at counter and then pick one unlucky customer tell them actually there is someone who wants your table now and they just ordered at the counter. Or depends on your mood and the amount of orders whether itās worth for them to be seated inside, outside or rather...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place was highly recommended to us so we thought we give it a try. The location is ok and outdoor seating available.
Overall we found service to be good, the at the table ability to order was great but unfortunately the food was average. The acai and granola bowls taste intense (for lack of a better word). The acai in particular was almost unpleasantly sweet. We were sharing it around and a few bites into it, everybody was reaching for the water to neutralise the sweetness.
The pancakes too were, well, intense. Very doe-ey and the ricotta topping also made you reach for a liquid to help with neutralising the egg-ey flavour.
Talking liquids. The coffees were good but came in very small servings. The iced chocolate was very strong (I did not want to use intense again).
Prices certainly are on the upper side, at a level where one would expect something a bit more spectacular as far as views and tastes are concerned.
Edit 28/01/21 As per below I was contacted by Shuk and I had a nice email exchange. Kudos to Shuk for taking customer feedback seriously and for making the effort to follow up.
I was offered an opportunity to come in again with the aim of Shuk being able to "make it up".
It is a nice gesture of course but I declined mainly because I did not want to feel in any way obliged to make changes to my review. To be clear, I am not saying this was the intent of the offer at all, but that is the way how I would most likely have felt after having been an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs Israelis living on the north shore, we were ecstatic that there was an Israeli restaurant close to home. The place looks very nice and in a good area. I ordered the shakshuka, which tasted pretty good despite the overcooked bread. My family said that their kofta was dry and the hummus was bland, but otherwise good meals.
We were extremely disappointed with the service we received. We politely asked if we could do a few substitutions on a meal and were quoted a price for the changes. We agreed on the price and ordered the special meal. When we went to pay, they asked for extra money. When we asked why, they explained that they decided to give us extra hummus and now we had to pay for it even though we did not ask for it. The waitress reiterated her quote to the cashier, but the cashier said we got bigger portions therefore we had to pay extra.
Not sure if this place is owned or run by Israeliās as the staff on the day were not Israeli and I hesitate leaving this review in fear of giving Israeliās a bad name, however if you are looking for good Middle Eastern food there are many good Lebanese and Persian restaurants in the area, or travel to the East for proper Israeli food. We will not be...
