Screenwise was my number choice of study when selecting an institution which would foster, challenge and prepare me for the industry both nationally and internationally. After completing a full-time 2-year Diploma of Screen Acting, I can say without hesitation it was the best 'career move' I've made to date.
The opportunities I was presented with were invaluable; a masterclass with Peter Andrikidis, on-set experience during the filming of LITTLE MONSTERS (2018) starring Josh Gad and Lupita Nyong'o, voice over work on Foxtel's FIGHTING SEASON (2018-) and an ongoing collaboration with the directing and filmmaking students at AFTRS. From these opportunities and experiences I had the confidence and skills required to go on and book work within the industry, even before graduating.
In addition to these opportunities, Screenwise offered a plethora of talented teachers, mentors and professionals who we had the pleasure of learning from; many of whom I will be forever grateful.
Last but not least, it was during my time at Screenwise that I was able to meet and network with other like-minded creatives, who are now my dearest friends and respected colleagues.
I would highly recommend Screenwise to anyone who is serious about taking that next step in their professional development and training as an actor. It's with no regrets that look back on my time at...
Read moreI am Holly Bragg and I'm one of this years graduate of Screenwise's Advanced Diploma of Screen Acting! Over the course of my two years of training, Screenwise has taken every available opportunity to mentor and prepare me for a career in the Screen Industry.
I am indepted to Denise Roberts, Barry Pearce and all of the Screenwise Tutors that I had the privilege of being taught by. Going into this course, I had very limited experience or understanding of how this industry works. I am now leaving feeling prepared and confident in my abilities. This would not be possible without Screenwises help!
Their Advanced Diploma course in particular covers many areas of acting that I found other places did not. I was even taught Stage/Screen combat by Blake Wells! The schools training is based in Stanislavski, however they endeavored to also cover Meisner, Mamet and Morris. This means that my acting toolbox is overflowing with techniques and options that I can customize to give my best performance.
I'd also like to give special mention to my main Tutors: Alan Flower, Alexandra Davies and Helen Stuart. I am SO grateful for your commitment to the craft and eagerness to share it with me.
Thankyou Screenwise! Congratulations for being a quarter century old - I wish you all the best for your...
Read moreLast year, I had a private acting lesson over Zoom with Screenwise’s Anna Lee for a project I was a part of, and, after hearing her practical tips, came away so inspired by the idea that acting is not as unapproachable a beast as it may seem to the almost-beginner, with the thought "whatever class that lady takes, I need to find it and take it."
My life has been particularly busy recently, but I made space in it for the beginners course - 3 hours, one evening a week for 6 weeks with Anna - which was full of her energy, ballooning up to infect us; learning lines, hearing about Anna’s set experiences, the mortifying but fascinating feeling of watching yourself back on screen, connecting with your voice, a mixture of evidently well-worn exercises & fresher improv that give rise to lots of laughter with near-strangers, a bit of a variety of experience levels in the class — although I still doubt my ability a lot, I do really enjoy acting, which I remembered most while in these classes! I look forward to taking a higher level course here when the time is right : ) Thanks Anna for your spirit in teaching us, peers for being lovely scene partners & critiques, and everyone I saw working hard behind the scenes to keep the place...
