Side Part Cafe — Restaurant in Sydney

I paid $4.5 for this SMALL but decent coffee (you got an extra star because it was nice) and was told I couldn’t sit inside because the prices are different for sit in (I assume more by that statement) 🤣 silliest thing I have heard. You’re in North Sydney not St Marks square in Venice.

UPDATE AFTER RESPONSE FROM OWNER - I am a consumer, consumers are not supposed to imagine your BACKGROUND STORY. So I appreciate your response but it makes no difference to my perception and interaction with your cafe.

You didn't say anything about inside prices VS takeaway price AT ANY POINT. It is normal to ask people if they want takeaway or inside, not to charge them differently but to simply know if they are staying or leaving. It is NOT normal however to have 2 different prices, I have not seen that ever here, So its not that i didn't want to pay extra, its the fact that I didn't know and that it is not a thing in Australia. So you may want to think of better ways to convey a cost difference to you customers.

The average price of a small coffee in Sydney is $3.34 also, so your pricing is high even with soy.

PS It was the way it was said to me, projecting your voice across the service counter to where I was sitting a couple of meters away. Next time you should approach your customer and whisper it to them. It will save you the negative google reviews.

I gave you an extra star because of your quick response to the review. I commend you on that. But I don't appreciate you calling me cheap or having no empathy by insinuating I didn't want to pay extra. Learn from the feedback you get and maybe people wont be so taken...

This cute cafe looked welcoming after running away from the crazy prizes at Luna Park! My daughter and I ordered a salad and a breakfast roll. My meal was unimpressive- just the average. Whereas, my daughter’s meal was merely edible. Her breakfast roll contained bacon, tomato sauce, eggs and bread: eggs were average but the bacon was what ruined the dish. It seems like they failed to hide how old the bacon was by overcooking it. Its texture and taste both let down the whole meal. It was tough and tasted off.

We were in Milsons Point area waiting for our cab to come and saw a small seating area parking on the street. Before sitting down, we check and saw a badge saying “North Sydney Council” so we thought it was for public use. We (2 adults + 2 elderly and a two year old) sat down for no more than 3 mins before an angry guy walked out and said “these are our seatings, you can only sit here unless you order.” Fair enough. I said “we will order some coffee and juice to take away.” He angrily replied “we are closed. and I would rather you guys dont sit in there!” You could have done better...
