Fantastic food and great atmosphere! Visited here on a Thursday night, there was a steady stream of guests in and out. We ordered from a QR code but had a full menu provided that we could both browse off our phones. Service-wise, everything was delivered so quickly and with a smile. The menu has a great selection of Japanese classics and local specialities such as Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki. We settled on takoyaki, pork gyoza, a Special Okonomiyaki and a Small Sashimi platter. Everything was made fresh and in front of our eyes (we were seated at the bar), it's hard not to get food envy when everything looks and smells so good! The takoyaki were fresh and delicious, the pork gyoza were some of the best I've ever had: super crispy bottoms and juicy centres. The sashimi was beautifully prepared and presented, so fresh and tasty. We finished with the Okonomiyaki and what a meal! All the layers mixed together and the sauces, so good!!! They make them Hiroshima-style, so if you have had one in Osaka, it's a bit different: layered ingredients rather than all mixed together. It's a great dish to share and dig into the layers - the crispy egg was my favourite!

Totally recommend for friends, date night, small groups or family. I would just suggest for a larger group to call ahead - tables fill up quickly but turn over a lot because of how fast the food service is.

Price-wise, we were blown away with the bill being only $35pp considering the amount of food we were served and a beer each. Everything was freshly prepared with top ingredients, it is definitely a bargain compared to what you would get for that much in other restaurants in this area.

In short, if you want fresh and authentic Japanese food, this is a great...

Authentic, Fresh, and Fun Loved the Sushi Bar Experience!

I had lunch at Take Sushi and Ramen Bar in Newtown, and it was such a great experience from start to finish. I chose to sit at the sushi bar, which turned out to be the best decision I could see the chefs working right in front of me, carefully preparing sushi rolls and plating dishes with so much skill and attention to detail. It really added to the atmosphere and made the meal feel more personal and fun.

We tried a variety of dishes, and everything tasted super fresh. The mini chashu don was a comforting bowl of rice topped with tender, flavourful pork. We had salmon sashimi and salmon ship sushi, both melt-in-your-mouth good. The miso soup was warm and soothing perfect for the chilly weather. Some dishes were transferred from another table, including spicy pork gyoza, tuna sashimi, and a standout salmon carpaccio that was beautifully presented and packed with flavour.

Service was friendly and fast, and the vibe of the restaurant was lively but still relaxed. If you’re a fan of Japanese food or love watching your meal being made in front of you, I highly recommend visiting this spot. I’ll...

Food: The sushi was fresh with good variety and it was beautifully presented. The price was reasonable for the quality.

Atmosphere: It’s a lovely little neighbourhood eatery with a better vibe than sushi train places. I would have given more points for atmosphere if I’d been able to order with the wait staff or even through fixed tablets, rather than being forced to take out my phone to order through a QR code.

Service: The wait staff are friendly. I had to ask for a small plate to catch the sushi that fell off the chopsticks and they brought that willingly. However, it lost a lot of points because of its payment policy. They don’t accept cash but they also charge a surcharge for using a card. I strongly feel this is unfair and trying to have it both ways. If you don’t accept cash, don’t charge a surcharge. If you charge a surcharge, then accept cash. I tried to give this feedback to the staff to pass on to the manager but they just smiled and it seemed clear it wasn’t going to be passed on. They do have a sign about this, which I overlooked as I entered, but I don’t think having a sign...

I’ve been craving okonomiyaki for quite some times and yes this place hits the spot! Their okonomiyaki was made fresh to order to all ingredients taste fresh and the outside was crunchy and the inside was piping hot. The karaage tonkotsu ramen was pretty good as well but I wish it has more toppings as the portion size was a little bit small. However the ramen noodles are chewy and cooked to perfection and broth has a dept of porky flavour and wasn’t too fatty or dense. Food was served quickly after approximately 5-10 mins waiting and staff is all nice and polite. Great ambience with wooden slats decor which gives a modern vibe. Will come back to try their sushi and sashimi next time for sure. P.s: came back to try their sushi and yes they were delicious too. The snow cheese prawn sushi roll was savoury and has great portions. The tofu seaweed salad with sesame dressing is another great option.
