Four of my friends and myself spent nearly $500 on a Friday night for dinner. The service from the waiters and waitresses was 10 out of 10. The food that we ordered was almost perfect except for three wagyu steaks that we ordered, they were $80 each and the quality was very below average for a high quality steak.
We ordered all the steaks to be cooked medium rare, but two came out well done. Two of my friends weren't too fussy about the steaks being cooked well done, so they just decided to eat their steaks. With the third steak being cooked well done, we politely asked the waiter to come over to our table explaining to him that our steak was ordered to be medium rare and it was overcook, they were more than happy to take the steak back and cook another wagyu steak.
The steak took 25 minutes to come out, and by than everyone had finished all their food on the table. I than politely asked the waiter if he could call the manager over just so we could explain the situation to him and we were more than happy to pay, we just wanted to let them know that we were dissapointed about what happened and to try be better next time around. The manager didn't even bother coming over to our table.
I than walked over to the front of the restaurant with the waiter serving our table to find the manager and let him know about the situation. I tipped the waiter in front of the manager and told the manger that our waiter had done a exceptional job during the night. I explained to the manager that the food we ordered was almost perfect, expect for the three steaks being below average and overcooked. I told the manager that i was more than happy to pay the full price and i wanted nothing in return, I just told him to try and be more alert next time. The manager than worked out that he could give me a 15% discount off the bill, i was very pleased to hear that and i went and paid the bill.
When I returned back to my table, I had a read over the bill and realised the manager had charged us for four steaks. I than had to walk back to the front counter and ask for the manger to do a refund. "THIS IS WHERE THE SITUATION GOES SOUTH" The manager had a chat with the front counter waitress going back and forth, he than decided to walk away from me and get the girl to give me a refund without saying a simple sorry for the over charging.
After the refund was all sorted we got our belongings and decided to leave. As we were walking out I went up to the manger and simply said to him "I think you were being very rude before when i asked for a refund, instead of saying a simply sorry you just walked away like nothing happened".
He than started to turn aggressive towards me, being very rude, inpatient and sarcastic, he also refused to apologise about the situation. He than walked away from me saying "I don't have time for you". My male friend than stepped in to see what the issues was, the manger than turned on my friend telling us to
"GET THE F**K OUT OF THE RESTAURANT"
A manager in his position who is representing a well known restaurant should have better skills dealing with customers. Never in my life have I had a manger rudely swear at me telling me to "GET THE F**K OUT OF THE RESTAURANT" after I have paid the bill and asked for nothing.
I understand that we are all human and we all makes mistakes, my friends and myself didn't want anything from the restaurant, we just wanted a simple apology.
All this happened after we paid the bill and tipped the waiter, imagine how the situation would of went if we decided to...
Read moreI recently celebrated my wife's birthday at Meat Wine & Co, and it was an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment I made the reservation and mentioned it was for a birthday celebration, they went above and beyond by assigning us a private dining room, adding a touch of exclusivity and intimacy to the occasion.
The degustation of food at Meat Wine & Co was simply mouthwatering. For our entrees, we ordered the Scallop Ceviche, which consisted of Tiger's milk dressing, compressed cucumber, apple, lime, chive, basil oil, and flying fish roe. The combination of flavors was incredible, and the dish left us craving for more. We also tried the Biltong Traditional South African air-dried beef, seasoned with black pepper, coriander, and malt vinegar. It was a hit not only with us but also with the kids who enjoyed every bite.
Moving on to the main course, we opted for the Salmon Skewers cooked to medium with African chili sauce and accompanied by a farm salad. The salmon was perfectly cooked, moist, and paired excellently with the spicy sauce. Additionally, we indulged in a 300gm Rib Eye steak from their Monte range, which had been grain-fed for 120 days. Cooked to a beautiful medium-rare, the steak was incredibly juicy and tender. The accompanying peppercorn sauce and chips added even more flavor and satisfaction to the dish. It was a true carnivore's delight.
For our children, we ordered the classic Mac and Cheese, which came with a complimentary scoop of ice cream. The kids absolutely loved it, and the combination of the cheesy pasta and the sweet treat made their day. We also ordered a side of chips on its own. The thick-cut fries tasted fresh and were clearly made with care, leaving us wanting more.
To quench our thirst, we enjoyed a couple of expertly crafted cocktails. The New York Sour and East 8 Hold Up were both skillfully mixed, showcasing the bar's attention to detail and commitment to creating fantastic drinks. For our little one, we ordered the New Year Sunrise mocktail, which was a refreshing and enjoyable choice.
To conclude our culinary journey, we couldn't resist trying two desserts: the Biscoff Sticky Date and the classic Creme Brulee. Not only were they delicious on their own, but Meat Wine & Co made the moment even more special by writing "Happy Birthday" with chocolate sauce and adding a sparkler to mark the occasion. It was a sweet and memorable ending to a fantastic meal.
Overall, our experience at Meat Wine & Co's private dining room was outstanding. The staff paid meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that our celebration was unforgettable. The quality of the food was exceptional, with each dish leaving a lasting impression. The ambiance, coupled with the attentive service, made for a perfect evening of celebration. Whether you're looking to celebrate a special occasion or simply indulge in excellent cuisine, Meat Wine & Co is a place you won't...
Read moreMyself & my wife are massive fans of Meat & Wine Co, we first discovered the restaurant chain back in 2012 & have been regular visitor's since. When we had heard the chain was coming back to Parramatta after being only in the CBD for many years to say we got excited was an understatement.
We had made a booking for 1pm but got there half an hour early as we we're quite excited. The staff we're very happy to accommodate us dispite being early & found us a table quickly. All the staff we encountered we're very approachable, friendly & chatty which makes you feel very welcome.
We started off with drinks before ordering an entree, I ordered a Jack Daniel's & Coke while my wife (pregnant) asked if they could make a virgin strawberry mojito. This wasn't a menu item but the gentleman who was serving us said he would check & didn't see it being an issue which after 5 mins of waiting he said they would do it.
The 5 minute wait was enough time for us to look at entree's so I ordered the calamari something simple to start. My wife ordered her favorite which was their bruschetta, it took about 10mins for our drinks & entree's to show. The calamari was cooked beautifully it came with a wedge of lemon & house made sweet chill sauce. The bruschetta didn't last long enough for me to try it but my wife seemed to be loving. When the entree's came we ordered our mains which was; The 500g marble score 6 wagyu rump with garden salad & a side of Mac n Cheese with truffle. My wife got the main size of the calamari I had for an entree & it took about 15-30mins for the mains to show.
The wagyu was cooked medium I found it to be a little bit uneven some parts we're well done & other parts rare. Still it was absolutely delicious I ordered a creamy garlic sauce (because im Maltese & garlic is everything) to dip the steak into. The Mac & Cheese I found to be a let down & it was more watery than cheesey, also the lack of ability to taste truffle added to the let down. The salad which was very basic but delicious & my wife calamari was once again cooked perfectly just as mine was for my entree's.
I some how managed to have room for desert so I ordered an apple pie & WOW! this thing was amazing it was like having a dount & apple pie combined. It was served with some vanilla ice cream & had some delicious sauces on the side.
Meat & Wine Co.. we will...
