Firstly, the lady that served us at the front counter was wonderful.
The rest of the "cafe" is the problem. Our ticket was lost somewhere between the front counter and the kitchen and we ended up waiting an hour and 20 minutes to not be served a thing. The cook seemed overwhelmed with the amount of tickets coming in and had no help with getting dishes done or other prep work. There was a member of the staff pretty much not doing a thing except eating food and doing the occasional round of the tables and "cleaning" them.
When our drinks were delivered, this particular member of staff asked if we were waiting on food. We said we were, but there was no follow up between themselves and the kitchen. How this particular person has a job is beyond belief. They did not value add anything to the cafe in the near 90 minutes we had waiting for our breakfast that wasn't to be.
Even when asked where our meals were, we were given a nonchalant answer, then some checking and then finally, an attempt to explain how the process went wrong and our meals ended up going unprepared.
We decided to leave due to other commitments and, once again, the lady at the front counter was able to handle our refund was genuinely apologetic, unlike some of the other staff.
If I could give zero stars, I would. This is the second franchise of The Shed we have had substandard service from substandard staff I would not recommend...
Read moreI wish I could leave 0 stars. I can’t comment on the coffee or the food because despite 2 attempts to eat there, I have not been able to. The first time was in December 2018 and I was with a group of mums and we all had a pram each. We asked for a table and the staff were incredibly rude and did not accomodate us. One man pretty much pushed past one of the mums and we were made to feel like an inconvenience so we left.
I went back today to have brunch with my 14m old son. I enquired about high chairs and the staff pointed and said ‘you can get one from there.’ I asked about a table and someone told me I had to have a look to find one so I did. I located a table where patrons were just getting up to leave so I waited patiently. A man working there acknowledged that I was waiting for the table. I moved my pram out of the way to let the people out and as I did that, a group of people just walked right past me and sat at the table that my son and I were waiting for. The staff did nothing. I just stood there in disbelief. I will never ever ever give this place a chance again. Why waste my business on a place like...
Read moreI used to avoid this place because of the previous management — service was poor, food quality was inconsistent, and it just didn’t feel welcoming. But wow, what a transformation under the new owner!
The service is now friendly, fast, and attentive. The staff actually care about your experience, and the food? So much better. I ordered the classic fish and chips — the batter was perfectly crispy, the fish was fresh and flaky, and the fries were golden and seasoned just right. Even the little details like the tartare sauce and lemon wedge felt thoughtfully prepared.
You can tell the new owner is putting real effort into turning the place around, and it’s working. Whether you're after a casual lunch or a sit-down coffee catch-up, it’s now a place worth coming back to.
Highly recommend giving them another shot if you’ve been disappointed in the past. This is not the same Shed Cafe it used to be — it’s better...
