⭐ ⭐☆☆☆ Nice hotel, questionable location, disappointing service. Recently stayed at Meriton Suites Liverpool and while the hotel itself is quite beautiful, there are some significant issues that affected our overall experience — especially when it comes to the service. Let’s start with the positives. The Meriton standard is definitely here – the building is modern, sleek, and clean. We stayed in a 1-bedroom apartment with a balcony sky view, and it was genuinely luxurious and spacious. The room was well-appointed, comfortable, and had that signature Meriton feel – it definitely delivers on the aesthetic and quality front. However, the location leaves a lot to be desired. It honestly feels like placing a high-end mansion in the middle of a rundown, questionable area. Liverpool just doesn’t match the quality of the hotel. If you’re visiting Sydney for the CBD or main attractions, be warned: it’s over an hour by train to the city. The only reason we chose this location was for a nearby wedding in Auburn – otherwise, it wouldn't have been a consideration.
Now onto the more disappointing part: the service. Our check-in experience was complicated from the start. We had paid using Afterpay Plus, but staff insisted we wouldn’t be getting our $100 bond back because of the payment method. Despite offering to pay the bond using another card, there was no flexibility or helpfulness. After a long, tiring travel day (including flight delays and rough weather), the lack of understanding and customer care was incredibly frustrating. Sadly, that wasn't the only negative interaction we had with staff. Upon checking out, we faced another issue — this time with a member of reception who was needlessly rude and impatient. Yes, we understand checkout is at 11am, and we were just a little behind while packing up some final things. We received a reminder phone call, which was fair, but within moments of that, the same staff member came up to our room and knocked on our door, pushing us to leave. It felt unnecessarily aggressive and created an uncomfortable end to our stay. This wasn’t the first unpleasant encounter we had with this particular staff member either. She gave us attitude previously during our stay, and it really soured the experience. I don’t know her name, but she was a tall, white woman in her mid-30s with glasses – and unfortunately, she left a lasting negative impression with her tone and approach.
As for the amenities: Pool – Decent but could use some maintenance and updates. Gym – Small but functional. Nearby shops – Super convenient. Westfield Liverpool is close, and there’s also Fashion Spree not too far away. In summary: ✅ Pros – Beautiful, modern suites, great views, convenient shopping nearby. ❌ Cons – Poor location, rude staff, inflexible service, complicated check-in, outdated amenities. I don’t hate it, but I certainly don’t love it either. If this exact Meriton property existed in a better area — and with better-trained, more respectful staff — it could have easily been a 5-star stay. But unfortunately, due to both the location and the disappointing service we experienced, we wouldn’t choose to...
Read moreI do not apologise for this lengthy ramble review-|Hotel is new, clean & well situated however, there is some serious tweeking that MANAGEMENT should address.|Check-in was cumbersome & not overly welcoming. A young woman commenced the check-in we were 85% into the check-in when suddenly she moved sideways to another computer to check-in another guest, did not excuse herself, a male took over, we did not know what the reason for her abruptly moving sideways was, & him taking over. In our room we accessed the QR code to find options for dining|it listed a vending machine that dispensed snacks & packaged meals that can be heated in room & 3 restaurants/cafes without contact details in the general vicinity. It was a Sunday night not much open and one of the restaurants was too far from the hotel so we opted for an instant meal from the Hotel vending machine, but Vending Machine situated in the basement CAR Park, (I'm glad I was not on my own, as I don't consider it safe expecting guests to go to carpark to access a meal or a snack, there were no instant heatable meals in the machine, we advised Reception who did not seem to know or much less care about what we were reporting, we went to cafe next door purchased take-away meals. Later in the evening approx 9pmish husband reported to young woman at reception that he returned to Vending machine as he wanted a chocolate bar and a packet of crisps for us to share, but the Vending Machine was not accepting the item code, or moneyand not dispensing anything. She told him he could phone the telephone number on the Vending Machine and report the fault.|REALLY - no! no! no! the Meriton hotel has the contract or leasing arrangement for the machine not the travelling guest.|Soooooo number #1 false advertising by hotel that machine dispenses heatable meals and #2 POOR customer service by reception. Checking our on Monday morning we mentioned the events of the previous evening and this Lady, was genuinely disappointed for us for the poor responses we received the night before, and she apologised on behalf of the Hotel. I have already booked our next stop-over and it's not at the Meriton, it's at the Mercure at Prestons, Meriton could take note of their customer service. I also suggest placing vending machine where it's safe for guests and any teenage children who want to avail...
Read moreThe location of the Meriton Suites in Liverpool is fantastic because it’s: literally across the road from a small shopping centre for groceries, food etc. walking distance (around 400 mtrs) from the large Westfield Shopping Centre 2 mins walk to many food vans/stalls, live music & gorgeous red lanterns hanging & flowing in the breeze ie Chinese New Year
Parking was $15 for our stay & is underground of the property & plenty of lifts to the front reception, to your room/suite & to the carpark.
The front reception staff were happy, friendly, respectful & helpful. The front reception area has comfortable seating with I-phone chargers located around the seating.
There was a security person walking around the ground floor & front reception 24/7…..this made us feel safe while coming & going from the property.
The 2 x bedroom suite (31st floor) was amaaaazing. The views were stunning during the day & night. The decor is modern, very clean, fully functioning oven, fridge, cooking utensils, cutlery, crockery & glassware, dishwasher, washing machine + clothes dryer.
There is a dining area with table + 4 x chairs, located next to the kitchen.
The floor to ceiling glass doors to the balcony opened fully to an open-air covered balcony with a table & chairs. The views of the city, mountains, clouds, a storm brewing & certain popular venues were all visible from the balcony.
The 2 x bathrooms are beautiful & one included a separate bath + shower & the 2nd bathroom had a shower. The towels, hand towels & face cloths were lovely & soft.
The bed was extremely comfortable with an array of different pillows to choose from….soft, medium, hard & something for everyone. There is a wall mounted tv in the bedroom. The wardrobe includes hanging space, drawers & a security safe to store your valuables.
The air conditioner worked well, however if you prefer fresh air, you can open the glass doors to the balcony & a light breeze entered the suite.
The lounge-room area included a large coffee table, huge wall mounted tv, comfortable sofa with many cushions. The tv included local tv channels, Netflix, news channels etc.
The WIFI did not work very well ?? I had to hot spot my partner’s I-phone to access...
