I work in hospitality and I understand how disheartening it is to get a bad review, but as I have not gotten any response from the private email I sent this company regarding my feedback I will be posting my feedback here.
I booked this course with the intention of being trained by John. I saw all the positive things people had said about him and decided it was worth the $200 and effort of travelling to Sydney from the Central Coast. Then when I arrived for the course I discovered I was to be taught by a young guy named Dylan. Dylan’s attitude and lack of care throughout the whole day left me feeling so discouraged and I walked away learning nothing. I particularly have an issue with the Latte Art course. I already know how to make basic coffee so the Foundations course was just something I thought I should do to ensure I’d been taught correctly. But with the Latte Art course I was really looking forward to actually learning something. It felt like I paid just for the use of a coffee machine, milk and beans. Not a course. Not instruction from a teacher. You could clearly tell Dylan did not want to be there and his arrogance did not make me feel supported. I also feel like the other people doing the course felt similar to how I did. One lady even left 40 minutes early. I told so many of my friends and co-workers about how keen I was for this, and now when they asked how it went I had to tell them how bad it was.
I would not recommend this course at all. I am sure it is a great course when John is teaching it but if I was you I would not have Dylan teaching these courses. I would much rather have waited for a day that John was available if I had known. I feel so upset about how much of a wasted...
Read moreI recently completed the barista course at Black Market Training in Sydney, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. What truly set it apart was the professionalism, warmth, and charisma of our instructor, John.
John is not only incredibly knowledgeable and skilled in the art of coffee-making, but he also brings a level of enthusiasm, kindness, and attentiveness that makes learning genuinely enjoyable. His teaching style is clear, hands-on, and encouraging, creating a fun and engaging atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable and confident—no matter your experience level.
The 7 hours of training flew by, which speaks volumes about how dynamic and well-structured the session was. John’s ability to connect with students and make everyone feel welcome truly makes the difference.
