Me and my friend visited this restaurant today and each of us had half a chicken with bread. While the bread was decent and of good portion, the chicken was clearly subpar, loaded with yellow food colouring. The colour was so intense that it stayed on my hands even after washing them and the image I attached was 6 hours later clearly showing my fingers yellow. I don’t understand how any restaurant can add so much food colouring and how it can be ok for human consumption. Secondly, even before we ordered the areeka (a side dish), we asked if it was fresh because we’re aware of how areeka can sometimes be. They assured us it was made fresh that morning. However, as we ate, my friend pointed out that the bread used in areeka was never fresh and stale. It doesn’t take rocket science to figure out what is wrong with the bread. Later past the evening, both my friend and I ended up with severe stomach aches. He was unwell after this dish, which he said is the case later through out the day. I have attached screenshots of our text as well for those who claim I am here just for the sake of it. Considering no one ate more than 2 spoon of it, I took the areeka home, and my wife gave some to our daughter. Within two hours, she also fell ill with food poisoning. She has vomited seven times so far, turning our home into a chaotic mess. It’s 10 pm right now and I am heading towards the hospital later in an hour, if she continues to vomit any more. It’s already been 7-9 times she had thrown up on bed. As I write this review, I’m dealing with a lingering stomach ache while sitting next to my daughter, who hasn’t stopped vomiting. I’m holding a bucket to prevent her from vomiting on the bed again, as we’ve already had to change the sheets three times. I am not the type to write extensive review unless the restaurant has wowed me or has totally dissipated me and this has been the lowest of all food I have reviewed so far. If your restaurant can’t meet basic quality standards or cater to customers’ expectations, please refrain from serving such dishes. No one should have to endure this kind of nightmare experience.

Yemen Gate Restaurant in Lakemba delivers an unforgettable culinary experience that brings the rich, bold flavors of traditional Yemeni cuisine to life. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with warm hospitality and the aromatic scent of slow-cooked meats and exotic spices. We started our meal with the Fahsa Lamb, served bubbling hot in a clay bowl with a side of freshly baked Mulawah bread. The lamb was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the broth was rich, comforting, and full of depth. The Mulawah was soft and flaky – perfect for soaking up every bit of the stew. Next came the Mandi Chicken, which was beautifully presented on a bed of saffron-infused basmati rice. The chicken was incredibly juicy and well-marinated, with just the right balance of spice. It was accompanied by a spicy tomato salsa and a flavorful maraq soup, which added an extra layer of warmth to the dish. We also tried the Spicy Haneeth Lamb, slow-cooked to perfection. It was slightly crisp on the outside and incredibly succulent on the inside, with the spices having fully penetrated the meat. The portion was generous and ideal for sharing. Their Mixed Plate is a must if you’re dining in a group – it comes with a combination of Mandi Chicken, Lamb Mandi, and Haneeth Lamb on a large platter of rice, making it a real feast! The service was friendly and attentive, and the ambience is casual and comfortable – great for family dinners or group outings. Parking nearby is convenient, and the food is definitely worth the trip if you’re not from the area. Whether you’re familiar with Yemeni food or trying it for the first time, Yemen Gate offers an authentic and satisfying experience. It’s rare to find this level of quality and flavor outside the Middle East – this place is a gem!

THE MOST DELICIOUS AND THE MOST COMFORTING FOOD EVER!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍 This was my first time trying Yemeni food and I had heard so much good feedback about Yemen gate restaurant, and it was a solid 12/10!! 🔥🔥🔥 Unbelievably delicious food, we went into a food coma MashAllah! The quality of the buttery soft meat, the fragrance of the rice, was the dream experience! I ordered the Fahsa Lamb with Mulawah, Lamb Mandi, Lamb Boram, Adani milk tea and it was all CHEFS KISS 😘 I want to raise to the owner that your staff is truely a treasure! What kind, humble and respectful people they are. They all deserve a raise for their exceptional customer service and care for all customers that walk in! ❤️ Also, a special thank you for the privacy and prayer space, JazakAllah Khair! I told all my friends and my family about it. Can’t wait to visit again very soon and bring everyone! Lots of love and good wishes! 🤲🏼
