Don't know what happened...
but my mixed plate (meats, falafel and everything else that is supposed to be at the very least warm) was stone cold.
the fatteh i ordered was cold too...the whole point to ordering and eating this is that it is a soothing dish...not when it's stone cold though. it's worse because it's winter and hot dishes are needed and appreciated even more.
chips were luke warm too...
have had better fattoush salad from other lebanese restaurants.
i live literally like 5 mins walk from the restaurant so it didn't get cold during that time.
i have ordered take-away from here multiple times before and also eat-in and it's never been like this. that's why i gave you three stars still even though today was a disappointment. also, despite the warm to hot components of my order being cold, it was still fresh.
standards gone down?!
on a side note too, i notice they give you more rounds of lebanese bread when you order from the restaurant directly as opposed to using a delivery service like menulog. what's with that guys?!!! we're paying the same price, in fact more, and we don't get the same quantity of bread? everything should be the same quantity and quality regardless of eat-in, pick-up or using...
Read moreIf you really love traditional Lebanese home style cooked food then this family owned and operated restaurants since they opened in the heart of the busy Lakemba over 35 years ago is the restaurant you just put on your to try list! The owner Amin the most compassionate, generous, hardworking and honestly the nicest gentleman, his food is made with the best quality meats and vegetables, its authentic big flavors and the smell of the food been cooked while you wait always smells delicious and mouthwatering. When you cook with your heart and you serve your customers like they are invited into your home it’s just comfort food at its best. The restaurant maybe outdated for some but for me personally I love it because it’s old but really clean and he has this sign that says all food is cooked to order so it may take alittle longer but it’s so worth it, his prices are very affordable especially his shawarma wraps and falafel, while dining there many times I’ve spoken to other customers that had driven hours away just to eat there and even more after Food Safari filmed there afew years ago. Thank you Amin for always been so generous and helpful especially during the...
Read moreI have attended El Manara for over 30 years. I was there tonight with my Daughter and her partner (both vegetarian) and their 5 month old son, who unfortunately did not get to share the food due to his age (not yet weaned). The hospitality was great as always, the food fresh as can be. Theirs is the best falafel in Sydney, light, crunchy, tasty, the tabouli is fresh as can be, the babagahnouj creamy and delightful, not to mention the unforgettable foule, the shish kebabs and the garlic sauce. I recall taking several of my Daughters teenage girlfriends to celebrate her birthday some 20 years ago - the food is as great now as it was then and indeed prior to that! Hal al, so no booze! An institution in any Sydneysider’s encyclopaedia of “cheap eats”! Dine in for a special dining experience. No frills, no bells and whistles, be prepared to wait (this is a small and unpretentious restaurant with few staff) and let your tastebuds be the judge. You won’t be...
