OMG, you won't believe how amazing this pizza place is! 🍕🍕🍕
The photos seriously don't do it justice!
So, I was on my way to an appointment when I spotted this place again.
Finally, my partner and I could try Chicago deep dish, something we've been dreaming about for years!
I wasn't sure if they did takeout, but I decided to check it out anyway.
When I walked in, this super friendly guy assured me they do takeout - I was stoked and told them I would be back asap!
But here's the best part - when I called to order, a lovely lady answered and said they usually close the kitchen at 2:30 PM, but she'd keep it open until 3:00 PM just for me!
Plus, she even offered to start making the pizza right away so it'd be ready when I got there. How awesome is that?
When I arrived, the lady gave me the warmest welcome, and we chatted for a bit.
I also noticed they'd kept the pizza in the pan and boxed it up perfectly upon my arrival, so it wouldn't get soggy - such attention to detail!
Oh, and get this - they have a lunch special for just $22.00, and it comes with a FREE glass bottle of soft drink!
I mean, who doesn't love the taste of drinks from glass bottles, right?
Okay, taking the pizza home on the bus was torture because it smelled so darn good, but when I finally got to devour it, WOW, it was divine!
My partner and I absolutely loved it, and now we can't wait to go there for dinner sometime soon!
So, if you're into heavenly pizza and fantastic service, you've got to check this place out.
Trust me; it's worth every bite! 😄👍
Only minor feedback I would give - It would be great if they had a website as they have an incredible variety, and it would be helpful to look through it before getting there.
Plus, when you search yummybox or Chicago deep dish pizza, the SEO doesn't immediately take you to them, and you need to google yummybox Newtown, which, unless you already know of the space, your simply missing out. Which is a shame for both customers and the business.
Once they have a website and market themselves, being the closest place in the inner-west / CBD for this style of pizza.
I believe it will help them become more known, as the food and service are too incredible not to see this...
Read moreEver had a real Chicago deep dish pizza? This pizza trend is all the craze in the United States @yummyboxnewtown has brought it right to the heart of Newtown, Sydney. Chef Ning lived in the USA and learned to make these Chicago style from the masters.
What sets a deep dish pizza apart? Think of it more like a pie and pizza had a delicious cheese filled baby. A layer of short buttery pie crust lines the bottom of a round cast iron pan, then layers of filling go in from classic spicy salami, onion, olives, and spicy sausage mince to loads of gooey mozzarella, topped with a pastry lid and covered in homemade tomato sauce and parmeggiano cheese.
The whole masterpiece is baked in a bread oven for 30 minutes. The savoury pie is then sliced into wedges and served. Each slice is a complete meal. Deep dish pizzas are best enjoyed in the restaurant with friends.I loved their hot Chicago with peppers, jalapeño and spicy sausage. Really lovely and substantial.
Chef also makes a wonderful thin crust NY style pizza with honey, walnutsand gorgonzola. They can even do a 20 inch size in their big ovens.
Lovely service, passionate cooking, crafted with love. A great range of North American classics on their menu which I want to...
Read moreNope, nope and never again. Got there early evening, ordered from the cocktail list, they only have 5 cocktails, so you'd think these would be good. Ordered a Cosmopolitan and Mojito, thank they struggled so they got the American girl to make them ( you guys know how to make cocktails!),. Mojito was made with rum topped up with Sprite, with a slice of lime and a mint leaf as garnish, Cosmo was vodka topped with cranberry juice-watched every second of them being made! Ordered the food, decided against the deep dish signature pizza, ordered 2 types of chicken wings, poutine, onion rings and squid. Could see everything "being made" in the kitchen, by being made, i mean watched everything get poured out of plastic packaging from the freezer, not one item was fresh in this place, or prepared by a chef/cook, everything went from freezer to deep fat fryer and then to the table. Couldn't finish the cocktails or food, paid our 30 pieces of silver and left within 35 mins of arriving. Never to return. Amazing how Insta can fool the...
