Should book on the weekends, gets pretty popular. Also if you want crayfish sashimi apparently needs a two-hour notice which isn't advertised on the menu. We came for the food and not for the service. We had both takeaway fish and chips and sit down dinner. Food is great (except for the oysters). Fish and chips: excellent! The best chips ever. Fish was nicely battered and crispy. Loved the calamari rings and good prawns. Takeaway Oysters: very disappointed... they were disintegrating in their own shells... Dinner food: Beef and cray was excellent, the steak was cooked to perfection. I'm always fearful for overcooked scallops, however the chef has done it well, tender and buttery. Salt & pepper squid was very good but the crispy noodle accompanying it was very weird, not a fan. Dinner service: we had to ask for menus after sitting down for a while, and still didn't receive the drinks menu, ended up grabbing ourselves. The one waitress taking orders never came back to our table so we had to wave down the bar waitress, she was good. Overall, would come back for the food minus the oysters.

An absolute treat, worth every penny and then some! Friendly and obliging staff make you feel welcome. And it doesn't hurt in the least when the owner of the establishment also stops by your table for a lovely chat. The mark of a man who cares about the business he runs and the dining experience of his customers. Then there is the food! I'm not just blowing smoke when I say this was the best meal we've had for a very long time! From the Entree of oysters kilpatrick and cob loaf to the crayfish and fish & chips, everything was on point, perfect in taste texture and presentation! The dessert of berry frangipane with whipped cream and berry coulie was the perfect finish to an exquisite meal. Ease of access is also a big thing as my wife and my mum both have mobility issues. Having an elevator to get upstairs to the restaurant was very handy and allowed both my wife and mum to get to our table with very little effort. All up a very memorable experience that has been a highlight of a long overdue holiday that we will talk about for years to come. 5 massive stars and 2 big thumbs up!

Order takeaways from the ground floor shop or face rough treatment by waiters S40°46.001' E145°17.915' The restaurant upstairs is a large cafeteria or canteen. This large space has been stripped of any impression. Fast food restaurants do better. Their staff do better than waiters at Hursey Seafoods too. With many small tables available, we asked for a table for two persons. That was not possible. We were instructed to sit at an 8-people table next to the entrance to the toilets. Our objections were answered by indifference. The waiter could not be bothered. In the end, she allowed us to move four chairs, away from the toilets. As punishment for this, she forgot about us at time of ordering. When we understood that we were forgotten, it was difficult to get her attention. Simple, guests must understand that they are entirely dependent on the goodwill and goodness of the waiters. In the end, we got the chance to order very quickly, and we were not allowed to ask any questions. We did have questions, which increased the irritation level of the waitress even further. Explaining the menu on the blackboard by her was a mystery and the waitress made it clear that we were wasting her precious time. Unsure, we gambled and chose the tasting plate southern rock lobster from the blackboard. This was not the end of the horrible encounter with this waiter. After a while, she announced that the kitchen was out of fish for the tasting plate and asked if we still wanted to order something else. Yes, we did and we wasting more of her precious time we decided on the half small crayfish with chips and salad ($40). After this rough treatment by the waiter, the half-small crayfish made no impression. Hursey’s operates a fleet of nine fishing boats and is known for its catches of fish, crabs and southern rock lobster. Hursey Seafood cannot send these waiters out to sea on one of their vessels, because they will violate the rules and regulations concerning the treatment of fish. These rules and regulations do not apply to humans and therefore they are allowed to work in the restaurant. You have been warned.

I will start with the positive - the food was unreal. I had the Steak & Cray option , even though it was $60 which is expensive and ridiculous, it was what I thought was best value for money. And wow... the food was delicious. So here we go. The waitress are lovely, very nice etc, however , when I get seated and told that the specials are written on a board that is nowhere near my table and I have to get up and look at it , that is a sh!t service. I just laughed when she said , “tasting plate prices is here and specials are over there” - COME ON When the food was delivered , it was simply throwing onto my table !!! Really With that said, it’s worth a visit , however , I hope Hursey reads this , I would get a professional hospitality coach in, to teach restaurant Etiquette and the fact that they are charging an absolute premium, which is fine, but you charge a price , that comes with a premium service. Pick up your game please Hursey, otherwise , enough reviews will weigh this restaurant down , and no one will come , simply because they don’t appreciate their customer.

I take no pleasure in writing a bad review for a small business, but this was far by one of the worst dinning experiences I've ever had. We ordered the seafood chowder, along with two mains and the quality of the food served to us would have been a possible contender for the next episode of Kitchen Nightmares. We only managed to stomach a couple of bites before requesting a refund, which the chef only approved a $18 of the $94 total bill amount. The staff disclosed that the garlic sauce used to Sautee the scallops actually comes from a jar (which smelt like battery acid) along with the chips tasting like dishwashing detergent (I couldn't believe it either) and the battered fish was grey inside and smelt pungently off. Also keeping in mind we had to wait 1.5hr just to be served the mains. Incredibly shocked by the 5 star reviews... such a shame as we were really hoping this was going to be the best seafood dinning in the area and the location is stunning being on the water

I ordered a serving of Blue Eyed Trevalla ($65 p/kg - battered) and my Brother in-law did the same only crumbed. When comparing our orders I noticed I had only got one small piece. My brother in law two decent sizes. When I took my serving back and asked if the order had been misplaced the staff indicated that I had eaten the other piece and suggested I was lying to them and that they were giving me the benefit of a doubt and cooking another piece. I asked to speak to the manager but was told they had gone home. I asked to speak to the person in charge and was told they were unavailable. Needless to say I was very very disappointed and recommend people check their Order before walking out the door. The fish was okay, nothing to write home about and the serving of chips was soggy, yellow and bland.
