We were a party of six at the Dumpling House tonight. My meal, Garlic Scallops, was quite tasty, and there were an acceptable amount of scallops in it. My friendsâ meals were mostly good too, but I would have been put off if any dumplings I ordered were bright green, as one of my friends were, but perhaps thatâs just me. The waitressâs service was reasonably prompt, although a little unknowledgeable. The door to the toilets could have done with a windexing. My main concern with this place was when it came to paying the bill. Several of our meals were charged at more expensive prices than those printed on the menu. The differences in price were relatively minor, but three out of the six of us dining there tonight have cancer and are on a very low income, and one is an aged pensioner. This was a lash out night out for us. When I pointed out the price discrepancies to the man on the payment desk, he just shrugged his shoulders over the majority of them, and reduced the prices to the menu prices. My concern is that many people wouldnât question a dollarâs difference here and there, and would just pay the total without knowing. When I stated to the man on the pay register that the difference between the printed menu price and what we were being charged on our bill was illegal according to Australian Consumer Law, he disappeared into the nether regions of the shop. The moral of the story here is check what youâre...
Read moreWe visited Dumpling House last night and would like to share some feedback.
Positives: ⢠The food was delicious.
Areas for improvement: ⢠The restaurant was quite cold, which made it uncomfortable to fully enjoy the meal, which was disappointing as it was a birthday celebration. ⢠The host's demeanour was somewhat unwelcoming upon arrival and throughout the evening. When we inquired about the beverage options, as they were not listed on the menu, she responded with âwhatâs in the fridgeâ. Our interactions with the host felt somewhat distant, and at one point, I overheard her say âwhat's in the fridgeâ to another table when asked about available drinks. It might be helpful to provide a printed or visible list of the drinks available in the fridge, or to include such options on the menu, to enhance the customer experience. Overall, the dining experience was affected by the temperature and the tone of...
Read moreUpdate 2/8/25: all very friendly and courteous service, and decent prices, but the dumplings have gone dreadfully downhill. Pinkish hue? Boiled and pan-fried. Must be the flour. Meat (pork) was terrible - one bite and it tasted like processed dim-sim meat. Sure, they have pork a well, and usually cabbage or chives, but most places at least use fresh pork mince. These dumplings had the fleshy-bulky feel of processed meat chunks. Only soy sauce in the table. Even the vinegar (mixed with garlic) tasted unusually sweet. These dumplings are cheap, for a reason. Best of paying more for better dumplings in Bendigo. Shame, this place used...
