Old Green Bean — Restaurant in Victoria

Very disappointing. We love going there but today might be the last time for a while. It used to be our go to but I’m off them after today.

The weekend is the busiest time of week yet the place still turns away service just so the staff can finish on time.

I often work until 1pm Saturdays and am looking for a cafe to go to for lunch afterwards. (I’m not the only person in Bendigo who this affects)

On the website it says closes at 2pm….. we rock in at 1:15 (mid day) to grab a table and a quick feed/ coffee and we get turned away saying they don’t take anyone in after 1:10pm. This is an absolute joke.

Today they turned away 3 others in front of us and then my partner and myself. That’s 5 more people they could’ve taken. It’s peak lunch time and they are turning people away. (Even when the place is super quiet and have tons of tables available).

Terrible way to run a business! I was fuming today.

We then went to another cafe and they welcomed us in, said they shut at 2pm as-well but happy to take our order straight away. We were in an out within 30 minutes. Fed, had coffee and great service. Polar opposite to what we experience ALL THE TIME at old green bean.

If you shut at 1pm then change your website and don’t advertise...

Often crowded at front door as sit down and takeaway customers try to place orders as waiting staff walk around smiling at you .Needs table service as Percys and Percys ,Corner store learned .Cake counter is also register point -seeking sustenance whilst numbers behind you wait to pay /order .Food can be variable -once had watery cool vegetable soup? and squashed wrap =supposedly Moroccan chicken .also on Trip Advisor etc they only respond to positive reviews and don't take the hint they are losing custom in an increasingly competitive market in Bendigo eh Old Bean?? The blowies liked it! To funky to be Funkful...

This restaurant has the most restricted menu I have EVER seen.

There were only two items on the menu that held any appeal for us @ all and one of them they had run out of by 1.30 so I had to have a breakfast menu item.

Why did we eat here?

Because we were having emergency repairs @ the tyre shop across the Rd & it was 36 degrees outside or we would have just walked somewhere else.

2 coffee's, 2 pretty ordianary lunches one of which was actually a breakfast $45 ish dollars.

Before anyone suggests it, we will NEVER...
