Centra — Restaurant in Victoria

My partner and I decided to dine out on Saturday night. I have particular dietary requirements at the moment and after perusing different menus we settled on Centra. I hoped that if they could do a simple swap of the side that came with the fish, to the side that came with the steak, I'd be good. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. After clarifying their position with the manager, it appears that serving the masses is far more important than keeping one customer with dietary requirements happy. He did offer an alternative, which was far from good value for the money we paid for that dish, but we decided to agree rather than spend another hour finding somewhere else to eat at that time on a Saturday night. In all my years of running cafes in the hospitality industry (two of my own businesses), I've ALWAYS catered for people with special dietary requirements, no matter how busy we were. Yes, you do have a gluten free menu, which is fantastic, but there are other needs out there that you must be flexible to. We were both extremely disappointed in your stance on this issue and although what we did have was good quality and tasty, we won't be returning. Centra is a welcoming bistro that provides classic Italian staples. While I was there I got to try their arancini, seafood linguine and rocket pizza. The arancini had a neat little chilli hit that I wasn't suspecting. They gave us quite a few arancini balls, which was great since the serving sizes of the pasta and pizza are small. The seafood linguine was nice enough but it was a little bit bland. Fortunately, the prawns were cooked perfectly. The pizza dough was delicious and fresh. The tomato sauce was overly salty and the toppings were very light (even for a traditional Italian pizza), yet it was still pretty good. The acoustics in the venue are attrocious. We found Centra Hotel online and after booking, several friends told us how lovely it was, and they were absolutely right! From the very first phone call, the team was welcoming, hospitable, and genuinely friendly. The service was outstanding, the atmosphere warm and inviting, and the pricing very reasonable for the quality offered.

The food was absolutely delicious, and every detail exceeded our expectations. We celebrated a 21st birthday in the Myer Function Room, which turned out to be the perfect venue, beautiful ambience, great layout, and such a wonderful vibe for a special occasion.
