El Toro Pizza & Restaurant — Restaurant in Victoria

I called El Toro after the pizza restaurant we initially booked for Sunday 2nd January was closed when we got there. I called at about 6pm just as the evening was getting busy, by 6.30pm our party of 10 were seated and ordering our drinks and meals. The restaurant was very busy and yet they made room for all of us. The staff were very friendly and ensured we were comfortable and ready to take our drinks orders. Within minutes our drinks were served. Within 20 minutes, our meals were served. We ordered a variety of pizza's, mains dishes and chips that all were huge servings, totally delicious and excellent quality especially after considering how busy they were, there was nothing to complain about here! The staff would check on us on regular basis, but not over bearing and Helen; the waitress that showed us to our table and took our orders was exceptional. Had a fantastic meal at El Toro! The meatlovers pizza was absolutely brilliant — loaded with juicy, flavour-packed meats and cooked to perfection. Every bite was rich, hearty, and seriously satisfying.

We also ordered the garden salad, and it was a real standout — the ingredients were exceptionally fresh, especially the tomatoes which were sweet, vibrant, and full of flavour. A simple dish done incredibly well.

The lemon lime and bitters was also a winner — cool, crisp, and perfectly balanced. Really hit the spot.

It was an exceptionally cold day when we visited, and if we had one tip — maybe avoid sitting too close to the restaurant exit, as the cold air sneaks in with each opening. That said, the aircon heater was running and it was nice and warm further inside. The restaurant itself is also really pretty — cozy lighting, clean design, and a welcoming atmosphere.

This place must be under new management because the food quality has nosedived since our last order. Both pizzas arrived stone cold, and I am almost certain they use store-bought frozen pizza bases, cooking them from frozen with toppings haphazardly thrown on. That is not what the restaurant advertises, and it certainly isn’t what we expected based on our previous order, which was significantly better.

As for the garlic bread—words almost fail me. It looks and tastes like it was hit by several cars, then run over one last time just to make sure it was well and truly finished. I’m not exaggerating; it genuinely looks like there are tyre marks across it.

I will be demanding a full refund. This was, without a doubt, the worst meal I have ever received from Uber Eats. If the app had any credibility, they’d remove this restaurant before more customers make the same mistake. The funniest (or saddest) part?
