Kosaten — Restaurant in Victoria

When visiting family in Hobart, they recommended Kosaten as a unique dining experience - the traditional conveyor belt sushi train has been replaced by a mini-bullet train.

Once your host has you seat seated, you decide what to order via the menu on the iPad at you table. There is a wide selection of sushi, sashimi, side dishes and hot dishes – all are described in reasonable detail and accompanied by true-to-life images that make you want to order everything!

Select the specific dishes you want to order and indicate how many serves you need depending on the size of the group. When the food is ready, it is sent directly to your table via the mini bullet train. Once the dishes are removed from the bullet train on to the table, you press the button to send the train back to the kitchen. Simple and efficient.

This might seem gimmicky or tacky and you might expect the technology might be prioritised over the quality of the food, but it was unequivocally not so in our case.

A group of 4, we enjoyed a wide range of sashimi, tempura, nigiri and hot dishes. The quality of the raw fish was excellent.

Standout dishes for us were the kingfish sashimi with chilli lime sauce and tempura king prawn with apple mayo.

We enjoyed the food and the experience and would happily go back...

Food was very tasty! Full of flavours! And the train tray system is so good to watch! The device in front of you will give you a notification of your food when it is coming. It is good also that they have a a limit of item in one order, i think it was 4 items or 5. But this is to ensure that the food they are serving are fresh and at least you know if you can have more or go for the dessert.

I will suggest to call them ahead of time and get a reservation. Place has this cool ambience, place is slightly small, but i dont think it would be very crowded or it will affect your experience as food comes right in front of you!

Staff are really nice and very approachable! Food price, i think it is was just fair, quality of food is epic! That volcano roll is very tasteful! I think I achieve my umami today!

First Proper sushi place in geelong Environment is quiet so its great for dates or a nice outing with partner

Food is tasty but only few items in the menu are really special

service has no human touch , just a train experience through an app myself i still prefer if i go to nice restaurant someone comes and explain the menu just as a human touch . however i like the experience its easy and efficient

menu is limited and thats why is only 4 stars otherwise i would have given 5

food portions is very very small which makes you want to order more but menu is limited so u end up ordering same items almost
