We got a grazing box and it was amazing! Instead of being sensible and pre ordering, we tuned up unexpectedly during a busy lunchtime and asked for a huge charcuterie box to be put together….the person who took our order was so nice, and took her time to ask about our preferences etc. quoted a reasonable 45 min to be ready (they were very busy) but texted in less time to let us know the box was ready. It was fantastic, some of the best meats and cheeses I’ve had, with a great blend of pate, nuts fruit, crackers and bread to accompany. Portions were great and good value for money considering the quality. We had a soft cheese (Brie or Camembert?) with figs on top that has ruined me for other cheeses hahaha The sourdough bread was amazing, we bought an extra seed loaf to enjoy with the box. My friend loved it so much that we stopped for another loaf on our way out of town. Thank you for your lovely service and delicious charcuterie. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a photo, we were to...
Read moreGreat cheese platter, shame about the hospitality!
Lovely spot, decent vibes, and the cheese board? A solid 10/10. But the service? Absolutely tanked the whole experience.
We visited about a month ago and were "greeted" (if you can call it that) by a waitress who acted like we were ruining her night. Tall, curly-haired, square face—hard to miss. From the get-go, she was in turbo mode—rushing us to order, clearly had no clue about the wine list (but acted like a sommelier with amnesia), and kept returning every 3 minutes like we were on a timer. We asked for wine suggestions and basically got a shrug and a spin-the-bottle level recommendation.
Before we even finished our drinks, she was clearing the table like we were squatters. It was 7pm, not 11pm closing time. We honestly planned to stay longer and order more, but she made us feel so unwelcome we left early, annoyed and dry-mouthed.
A shame, because this place could’ve been a gem. But one bad attitude can sour the...
Read moreI can't speak highly enough of Winespeake. Having recently made the move from Melbourne, the question circulating my mind was 'What wine bar's does Daylesford offer?'. I'm happy to say Winespeake delivers in spades. A huge range and variety of wines, cheeses, meats, condiments and more.
The extremely friendly, knowledgeable and diverse mixture of staff, coupled with cool tunes (did someone say Sade?) and an open space that consist of long wooden benchtops that run along the venues big windows and allow you to watch the day go by, make this establishment extremely inviting. Oh, and by far one of the best toasties I've ever eaten...EVER.
Not even two weeks here and this is already my go to wine bar. Big kudos and thanks To Marty, Jez and Jen for delivering exceptional service with a laugh coupled with making me feel right at home.
If you haven't been before then do yourself a favour a step right in. Keep up the great...
