Absolutely appalling customer service. I had breakfast this morning with my sister and a friend. My sister ordered some simple toast with jam. The toast came out with my friends side of avocado and a wedge of lemon on her plate…which they simply told us just to slide onto the plate it was intended for…leaving a trail of avocado on my sisters plate and on the edges of her toast. Now, I know a lot of people these days lack commonsense but surely the chef, when realising her/his mistake, would’ve fixed this simple little error which would’ve taken no more than 30 seconds. When we queried this, they bought out a new plate with fresh pieces of toast and didn’t even bother taking the old plate away. The supposed ‘jam’ was runny like a syrup and looked more like a Couis that you drizzle around pancakes and ran right off my sisters toast. She attempted to eat it but only had about 1 slice In total. When we went to pay, my friend and I felt something needed to be said (my sister is the type to not make a fuss) but we felt that this was a little bit ridiculous, and informed the lady at the cashier of the issue. She couldn’t have given less of a care…she couldn’t even make eye contact and listen to our story properly (I worked at McDonald’s for 3 1/2 years as a kid, and at the time as a 16-year-old, I would’ve known better than this older woman did, that the customer should be listened to with respectful eye contact and to show that you are being heard). Customer service is clearly not her thing, but just kept saying ‘that’s the way the chef serves it’…when we asked her she was serious and that my sister hadn’t even been able to eat it she said ‘yes I’m serious’. We told her this is ridiculous and poor customer behaviour that we will be placing negative reviews and she didn’t even have the decency to look at us and talk properly to us. Absolutely inexcusable poor professionalism that they wouldn’t even consider taking the time to listen to us properly and not make my sister pay the measly $9 for the toast. Will never go there again and will never recommend this...
Read moreMy wife and I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Larder for a delightful Sunday morning breakfast. Situated in the heart of Daylesford, this restaurant truly embraces the abundance of seasonal produce from the region. Loved the thoughtful ambience that enhances the overall dining experience and leaves a lasting impression. Right from the moment we were seated, we were impressed by the exceptional service provided by the staff. The wait staff was not only attentive but also friendly and knowledgeable, further elevating our positive experience. Now, let's delve into the star of the show: the food. The Larder Daylesford unquestionably excels at crafting outstanding dishes that are not only visually appealing but also bursting with flavour. Wifey opted for the big breakfast, a delightful combination of fried eggs, bacon, chorizo chipolata sausage, slow-roasted tomatoes and mushrooms, avocado, and tomato relish. It was a harmonious medley of flavours and textures. As for myself, I chose the HCT, a mouthwatering ham and provolone cheese toastie with tomato and salsa verde, in sourdough. And let's not forget to mention the excellent coffee that accompanied our meal, a true testament to The Larder Daylesford's attention to detail. Our overall experience at The Larder was nothing short of exceptional. From the warm and inviting ambience, created through the collaboration with local artists, to the attentive service and, of course, the unforgettable food, every aspect of our visit was memorable. The Larder Daylesford is an absolute must-visit for a breakfast that will leave you...
Read more⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Unexpected Gem – The Best Burger We've Ever Had?! 🍔💚 While exploring the quiet town of Daylesford and looking for a brunch spot, we stumbled across Larder Café — and wow, are we glad we did. With such limited food options in town, we weren’t expecting much, but Larder truly blew us away. We were warmly welcomed by a lovely staff member who seated us right away. We started with their matcha lattes, and to our surprise, they were fantastic. Smooth, balanced, and beautifully made — not something you'd expect to find in a small country town. Then came brunch... and this is where things got serious. We both ordered the wagyu burger with fries, and I genuinely don’t want to sound like I’m exaggerating — but this burger was arguably the best we’ve ever had. Whatever wagyu blend they’re using, it was absolute perfection: juicy, flavourful, expertly seasoned, and beautifully charred on the outside. Every bite was ridiculously good. The flavour just hit differently — rich, indulgent, and completely unforgettable. We’ve tried our fair share of burgers in Melbourne (which is full of top-tier burger joints), but this unassuming little café in Daylesford has completely stolen our tastebuds. I still catch myself thinking about that burger... it was that good. Huge credit to the team at Larder — we’ll 100% be back next time we’re in town. If you’re in Daylesford and even remotely into burgers, do yourself a favour and try this one. You...
