The Jaffle Shack — Restaurant in West Perth

Looked lovely from the outside, and set up nicely on the inside. It was clearly a busy morning on Friday 11th October when we stopped here for a coffee and some food. Although there was a wait, the coffee was absolutely beautiful, in fact the best I have had in Perth. The wait staff were trying their hardest during a busy service and doing well, maintaining friendliness and calmness which can be very hard but they achieved this. The one thing that altered the experience for my boyfriend and I was the fact that we were seated close to the kitchen and at one point could hear the chef verbally abusing the wait staff over the placement of something he needed - the swearing and his tone was very unnecessary, it doesn't matter how busy it is, professionalism must be maintained and I thought it was highly inappropriate that the customers could hear this ordeal. We felt very sorry for the wait staff who were trying their hardest and despite the grumpy chef still maintained a positive and calm demeanor and continued working as efficiently as they could. I truly hope that it wasn't a frequent occurrence as that would drive away a lot of potentially excellent staff in a business like that - why would they want to work in that sort of an environment! I personally have worked in establishments where some of the staff could not handle stress and frequently took their problems out on other staff in the form of bullying or a horrible attitude - I did not work long at these places for that reason. All in all this did not ruin our experience that day, with the coffee and food still good. I was hoping for a better experience but this place is extremely slow. Sure the atmosphere is casual but people are on the go. I waited 12 minutes for a jaffle then when it was given to me without my bottled drink the server told me to wait for the barista to grab it for me. If I hadn’t of told her the bottle was right behind her I would have had to wait for the barista to finish making her coffees before I would get it! The ingredients have been prepped, it shouldn’t take more than 5 mins to make a jaffle, it’s a repeat process. Management need to reorganize the structure to improve efficiency. The person at the cashier should never leave until no customer remains then they help out. Reviewing the West Perth Store

Used to love the muffins here, they were fresh baked and enormous. Easily the best in West Perth. Purchased one this morning and it tastes mass produced, is much smaller and definitely not fresh today.

Sadly won't be going back.

Update following owner response: Would be back in a flash if the muffins were as they used to be but just smaller. The raspberry with maple syrup on top was unique and amazing and obviously fresh made, I've seen the guy taking them out of the oven
