Brighton Hotel — Restaurant in Western Australia

Food was terrible! Everything that came out of the fryer was revolting, tasted like the oil needed replacing 10 days ago. Salt and pepper squid was inedible, every bite tasted burnt, oh and the sliver of lemon that was served with it was about 3 years old!! The chips tasted like they were bought from red rooster yesterday, reheated in the microwave, left on the bench to go cold then served in every dish we got including the replacement ones. The fish and chips was terrible , the 2 bite sized pieces of fish we got was coated in the same crap the squid was in and was over cooked. My starving teenager was so put off by the food we were served he didn’t eat a thing (my husband ate his burger as he was so hungry from the terrible fish) The upside the southern fried chicken burger was good , way too much burger sauce on all burgers, but the chicken burger was good once we scraped off the excess sauce. Manager refunded us for the squid and replaced the chips and garlic bread. Toilets were disgusting!! Dined at the Brighton hotel 25/09/25. Structurally it is lovely, nicely renovated. However the food left a lot to be desired. My wife and I had basic fish, chips and salad at nearly $30:00! Fish was hot, moist but the chips were stone cold. I called the young waitress over and she offered a fresh plate of hot chips which arrived soon after, they were fine. But jeez, how hard is it to do basic fish and chips, on the coast? I NEVER complain about food, but this, along with my friends beef curry that he described as the worst he has every had, at prices many people would find a lot of money, are hard to stomach (excuse the pun). A further issue was when a middle aged man slipped over and cried out in pain. He did not appear to have had too much to drink however the bar staff just looked over the bar at him. AVOID AVOID AVOID. 3.9 stars on google is an absolute joke and simply not correct. We are long time locals and spend a lot of time and money on Mandurah terrace.

This is by far one of the worst experiences on Mandurah terrace. DISGUSTING! The beers are cold however the food is tragic. Not just a little bit off… it was totally disgusting. We left.

Considering it’s under the same ownership as the bridge bar just next door, the lack of consistency between the two venues is borderline appalling. The beer garden here is a “hang out” location for the homeless. While in the men’s toilets, there was two homeless guys literally bathing them selves from head to toe at the hand basin. We literally couldn’t even wash our hands. Very very off putting. The staff/owners need to act on it.

Some serious changes need to be made or just shut the doors. It’s that bad!
