This hidden gem is a must-visit if you're looking for halal food in Albany. The restaurant is run by a lovely lady, and the older gentleman who served us was incredibly kind and welcoming. They gave us complimentary pandan tea, sambal, and even recommended the local tap water (which was surprisingly good!).
We ordered Ayam Penyet and Nasi Goreng (both were $32 each), but the portions were huge and easily shareable between two people. Each dish came with three fried chicken drumsticks, making it excellent value at just $16 per person.
The food was delicious, the service was warm, and it’s one of only a few halal options in Albany (alongside the Turkish kebab and Indian-Pakistani spots). I truly hope this place grows and stays around for a long time. Perfect for Muslim travelers or anyone who loves tasty Indonesian food.

Their menu system is unique with each day having a selection of a few dishes, daily handpicked by the chef, ensuring the freshest ingredients are used which always keeps dishes interesting, fresh along with keeping every visit exciting. Read moreWe had a great dining experience at Coconut Chili in Albany! The staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made us feel right at home. The food was delicious — even with their rotational menu, everything we tried was amazing. My son especially loved the crispy duck!
One lovely surprise was the complimentary hot pandan tea — it smelled amazing and tasted just as good. Such a nice touch that added to the whole experience.
We visited during the Easter long weekend and were happy to find the restaurant open on a public holiday. It was quite busy, so I’d recommend making a reservation if you’re coming during a holiday or weekend.
Overall, a fantastic spot for a tasty and memorable...
