Sugbo Grill Restaurant and Catering — Restaurant in Western Australia

We’re in Albany just for a visit and were looking for places to have dinner. We came across this restaurant and saw that they had food selections that are very different from everywhere we saw. We got there and greeted by the friendly and welcoming staff. We’ve ordered the pork siomai and salty pork for entree and both of these dishes are amazing! The chili oil that was included with the dumplings are so flavourful that we ended up buying some to take home. The salty pork is also amazing as the meat is so tender and also crispy at the same time and the salad that comes with the entree have the best dressing as it’s so unique and fresh. We then ordered Chicken Inasal, Sizzling Seafood Mix, and Sizzling Burger Steak for mains to share and these dishes are amazing! Everything is full of flavour and well balanced. The seafood that was served was also fresh. By the end of it, the chef came out and checked in with us and ended up chatting with him. Absolutely delighted with the Pork Sisig at Sugbo Sizzling! This dish was an explosion of flavors that perfectly balanced spice, savory notes, and rich textures. The seasoned diced pork was cooked to perfection—tender and flavorful with just the right amount of chili kick to keep things interesting. The addition of ginger and egg elevated the dish even further, providing a unique and delicious contrast.

The presentation on the sizzling plate was impressive, keeping the dish hot and full of flavor until the very last bite. The yellow rice served alongside was the perfect complement, adding a subtle hint of sweetness that tied everything together beautifully.

Went to Sugbo Grill to have dinner last night, and we went home extremely disappointed. The staff were friendly and welcoming. But, the food was terrible and does not go near a "chef cooking level" as what they say on their website. The Chicken Inasal that we got was extremely dry, and burnt. The Turmeric rice that came with it was not even cooked when served to us. The pork sisig that I got was just swimming in oil, and burnt when served to us as well. We tried to take home two orders of their porridge, and just to add to the disappointment, it did not have any taste at all. We were staying 4 minutes away from the restaurant, and when we got home, the dumpling that came with it was already soggy, and tastes a bit off. Sorry to be frank about this review. But it felt like we only wasted $100+ of our money. We'll never go back to this...
