The chefs at Daph's know food. Each course was impeccable, absolutely delicious. The service was equally amazing. However, I will say, if you book, show up on time. Since the restaurant does the 6 course menu, all tables get served at the same time. The booking is supposed to be for a 2 hour 'session' and when it finishes they start the next session. So if you're late, you leave not only everyone in your session waiting, but the next session also.
We showed up on the dot for our session, but ended up having to wait for a couple of people from 2 different tables to arrive so that we could get our first course. We were so hungry by the time it got served, which dampened the experience slightly. It was pretty appalling when the latecomers decided to swan in a casual 40 minutes late without a hint of remorse or embarrassment.
To the Daph's staff's credit, they did eventually stop waiting and started serving at 30 minutes, but I was shocked at the audacity of the customers to arrive so late for a strictly 2-hour session.
I had to ask to pay early and have our dessert served sooner because we hadn't accounted for a 30-minute wait before course 1 and had another booking to get to, but the staff were superstars and obliged.
I hope all 3 of those latecomers were surgeons and just showed up from saving someone's life because 40 minutes late to a restaurant booking - let alone one that is a dedicated 2-hour session - is really uncool. I'll definitely be back, but I won't be booking anything straight after now that I know how inconsiderate some...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Daph's Restaurant in Leederville, and I must say, it was a five-star experience. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a charming atmosphere.
The chef's table seating option allowed me to witness the culinary magic happening right before my eyes. The chefs were not only skilled but also engaging and entertaining, answering any questions and providing a truly immersive dining experience.
The service at Daph's was outstanding. The attentive team made sure that my every need was taken care of, ensuring an exceptional dining experience. I opted for the wine matching option, and I was delighted with how the paired wines complemented each course perfectly, enhancing the flavors and elevating the overall dining experience.
One dish that truly stood out was the kimchi bread injected with cheese. The combination of flavors was indescribably good, leaving me wanting more. It was just one of many dishes that I enjoyed throughout the evening.
In conclusion, Daph's Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable fine dining experience. The intimate and casual ambiance combined with unbelievably good food and fantastic service makes it an exceptional choice. Be sure to make a reservation and prepare to be wowed by the culinary expertise on display. I cannot recommend it enough - you need to come here and try it out for yourself. I, for one, will...
Read moreWas taken here for dinner with some of the team from work, and it was so good I had to leave a review from my personal account too!
Fresh produce, carefully cooked over coals. The smells and sounds as you walk in tell you what is about to happen, and it is delicious.
The menu served up started with fire baked bread, cooked with lamb fat and confit garlic. Garlic bread- you have some growing up to do, THIS is how it SHOULD be done!!!
Fresh scallops, served on the shell were next out- the only course you’re offered seconds on, and DAAAAAAANG! We ordered seconds like snaps fingers. Such a simple course, and the flavours of produce, and fire cooking just SING together.
Next up was a very healthy portion of Pork. Capsicum crisp, Kim-chi, and charred kai lan. Simply plated, very well executed.
Showing off a little more, the Mottainai Lamb dish that came out next, with Jerusalem Artichoke, Smooked Cauliflower, and sneaky little dash of anchovy cream was breathtaking. Seriously highlighting the quality of the meat, the lamb itself was a rich and decadent slice of heaven. The gentle smoke characteristics of cooking over coals lends an earthiness that plays so well with the cauli and artichokes.
Desserts were sticky date with a bourbon butterscotch sauce, and vanilla ice cream.
Great service, great food, and a drinks list pared down to just the essentials. I WILL be...
