The Mad Mexican — Restaurant in Western Australia

As Latinos visiting Australia for the first time, my husband and I were excited to try Mad Mexican in Geraldton. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing.

My husband ordered a chimichanga, but it lacked flavor, and the rice tasted old. I ordered a tostada bowl, but the combination of beans, rice, sour cream, and what seemed like blended tomato sauce just didn’t taste good. I also ordered a piña colada, which was not what I expected—it simply wasn’t good.

While the restaurant’s aesthetics are appealing, the food did not meet our expectations for authentic Mexican cuisine. I wouldn’t give it one star, but I wouldn’t recommend it either.

I hope Australians don’t take offense, but this is not what Mexican food should taste like. Perhaps hiring Latino cooks who truly understand Mexican cuisine would be a great way to improve the authenticity...

I really did enjoy this restaurant, only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because unfortunately I am limited to eating the food because of my allergies, although I am not sayings it's the restaurant's fault , The Mad Mexican is exactly that mad hot mexican food. The ambience is warm and friendly and so are the staff. I am told the Mexican food is pretty good and I am told they are famous for their amazing cheesecake for dessert !! The cocktails are over the top and taste so good. The only two suggestions I have is perhaps offer a small western section "pepper and chilli free " and the tables could look a bit more welcoming instead of dull and boring. But overall, a great place to go while your in Geraldton or even if you live Geraldton go check out the Mad Mexican Restaurant if you like...

From the moment we stepped foot into this place we where intimidated by the Manger . The service was so cold and forced . We got sent a text that if there was a no show we would be charged $20 per person . Out of the 12 booked , 9 showed up and 2 kids and the dad did not come last minute. The Manger then proceeded to tell us we had to pay $60 for the 3 people who didn't show up . She made my work colleague who made the booking cry , told her she would be red flagged if she did not pay the $60 . It was absolutely appalling , there is so much more this Manger did to us. Inwhich I will be taking this matter further. Being a manager myself , I was absolutely disgusted with the way we where treated . Such a shame as the food...
