Food is fine but the service is unacceptable. After an online booking for 3, we were given a tiny table with one side next to a wall. We asked if we could change to a slightly bigger table. After much hesitation (involving us standing around in awkwardness), our request was granted. On ordering, we ordered 2 dishes first as we have not decided on our 3rd dish, and the waitress was unsatisfied and said "2 dishes, then the small table is enough." Out of embarassment we tried to quickly find another dish to order, we asked about a curry dish but she said it is spicy. She has no recommendation for what dish we may consider. It was very awkward as we can't find one on the spot, so we paid and went back to the table to consider what to get more. We ended up having to go back to the cashier to pay for the 3rd dish after finding it on the menu. What we were unhappy about is the discrimination if we don't order 'enough'. There is no minimal spend specified on the menu. So why make customers feel awkward when the 'minimal spend' isn't even specified on the menu? If you later reply that there is no 'minimal spend', then that is even worse as that staff's attitude is very unprofessional. We later see that another group of 3 were initially seated at the same table, and then they moved to a much bigger...
Read moreKao Mun Gai Yang - Special menu This was amazing! I have not come across a flavourful dish like this up in Perth. Everything tasted authentic. Chicken was juicy and a very generous serving for 1 person! A very different experience if you order Hainanese Chicken Rice, where the Rice takes over the plate and the chicken serving is fit for an 9 year old child. The spicy jaew dipping sauce was on point! If anything, maybe the rice serving is not enough - for somebody with a standard appetite (they might expect more). For me this was more than enough serving of rice, considering how much chicken was offered - I am satisfied. Ordered takeaway online via their website on a Wednesday night. Requested pick up at 7:30pm, got there 10 min early - timing was exactly 7:30pm ready. Resturant was busy, not overpacked at the time but I noticed a lot of people ordering takeaway. I guess it would vary on time of day/weekends/holiday period on the wait time. I will definitely come back and try this place again with the family, hoping the kitchen special dish of the month is to my liking! I wish I could get this dish...
Read moreThis is hard to review as we left before we ordered. We did not have a reservation but was accomodated for by the lovely floor staff. However, once seated I grew a little suspicious about the quality as I saw in the prep fridge stacks of red and green curry takeaway containers with varying day dots on them. As a chef myself, I understand the need to prepare items in advnce for the ease of service but for this style of cooking and price I expect fresh. I asked the waitress politely 'could you please tell me if the food is cooked fresh to order' I was a bit surprised by her response when she said 'no, we are open 7 days a week and are too busy to do it daily'. I appreciated her honesty and informed her that we will be dining elsewhere and we left. We visited this restaurant a couple of weeks after they opened lst year and were very impressed hence it was on our list when in town next. However, since talking to some Thai locals it appears there is not a Thai chef there anymore, just a Phillipino one. . This probably explains the way the prep is done now. Will we come back, sadly not...
