Took my friend for her bday dinner here as we came up for a staycation. Omg! I don't expect much for Mandurah's food quality but I had a bit of hope. I come here often for a little getaway and I have tried every restaurant it was my first and last time here. The place is a little cute the meals look great in pics.
Ordered: Baked brie- cold, not gooey the honey was on plate not baked on the brie to caramelize it. Bread was hard as a rock.
Buffalo wings- wings were huge not the traditional small wings. Had bits of the feathers that hadn't been plucked off still on it and the sauce is not traditional buffalo sauce not close to it. The sauce had honey lots of it. Tasted ok but nothing like buffalo wings and served with watery ranch not blue cheese.
Crispy pork belly, with applesauce, quinoa, charred pineapple- the disappointment of the meal. Pork belly was so dry and flavourless, it looked like it had been sitting there all day. The quinoa was cold and flavourless. The whole meal was cold it was disgusting I literally tasted it and didn't eat it. The waitress saw my face and asked if it was ok I said not really but it's fine. I didn't want to make a big deal as I didn't expect much and I was prepared not to eat it. My friend ordered the gluten free chicken rigatoni it wasn't rigatoni it was spaghetti. I tried hers and it was bland and mushy.
Service was minimal I kept trying to get our waitress attention but she was not looking in her section just chatting with other waitress and I had to get another waitress to come over she then called our waitress and said table 4 she went to the wrong table and I had to wave her down again. We were table 4.
I gave the food toy friend in take away container as I didn't want it to be thrown out. She wasn't impressed but also doesn't like to be wasteful. I went to pay and they offered to make something else and take the pork off I said no as it was already cooked and didn't want to take money away from the restaurant. I did say I will be leaving a review. The waitress that took payment apologised. All in all staff were nice enough, service wasn't great food was inedible for me. Had to get food...
Read moreI don’t think I’ve ever had as bad a dining experience as this. From being wedged into our seats in the overcrowded alfresco area, things didn’t start well. We waited at least 10 minutes to receive menus and have our drinks order taken. Our staff member was clearly dealing with a lot so we brushed this off and she was kind enough to apologise… then the food arrived. Mine was swimming in a gloopy aioli like sauce that had not been listed as an ingredient on the dish description. This is a pet hate of mine - everything on your plate should be listed on the menu, both for dislikes and patrons with intolerances.
By now the place was so packed that when the people beside us arrived, they looked at their table with bewilderment given it was physically impossible to move the chairs enough to be able to sit down. I knew the high number of diners would mean the kitchen would be feeling the pressure and I likely wouldn’t see my new meal for quite some time. Rightly so, my partner’s bland pasta was finished before I got my food back.
Not wishing to endure another minute I walked out while my partner paid. When asked “if everything was okay?”, my partner replied with “do you really want to know” before proceeding to explain our bad experience. The staff member then simply shrugged and gave my partner our receipt.
I had really been looking forward to trying Wood & Stone given the positive feedback of others but I will likely never be able to bring myself to go back… No matter how enticing their breakfast or parmigiana looks online. It’s even put me off trying any of the group’s other establishments on the street. Upon reading other reviews on both Google and Tripadvisor, I can see the crammed tables, long wait for service and attitude from staff have been identified by...

The moment we stepped in, we were greeted warmly by the friendly staff, who immediately made us feel right at home. Their genuine hospitality and attentiveness throughout our visit truly set this place apart. What impressed me the most was how they treated our disabled daughter with such compassion and patience.
