I recently had the pleasure of attending a Montague wine party in their downstairs cellar in August 2023 and I must say it was an absolutely fabulous experience! From the very beginning, the team at Young George proved to be professional, attentive, and a joy to work with during the planning process. Their food and drinks selection was outstanding, making it incredibly easy to put together an amazing night for all our guests. Although the milk bun ramen fried chicken and zucchini were not personal favorites, the overall meal was still fantastic. The variety of food offered was both delicious and creatively presented, with the chef's inventive layer of flavors impressing us all. The wood-fired meats were tender and melted in our mouths, and the carefully curated wine selection added the perfect touch to our dining experience. I must also mention the warm and welcoming decor, which created a pleasant atmosphere that further enhanced the evening. The vibe at Young George is truly enjoyable, and the excellent service we received from the friendly staff capped off the night, making it an all-around great experience. I can't express enough gratitude to Young George for hosting such a brilliant party. The team's professionalism, attention to detail, and delicious food made our wedding cocktail montague party an unforgettable night. Thank you, Young George, for exceeding our expectations!

Went to the Young George on a rainy sunday evening and it was the perfect place to be nestled in the sleepy suburbs of East Fremantle. We arrived and were quickly seated, with the special explained to us and drinks orders taken. Cocktails in hand (which were delicious) it was now time for the starters, we had the scallops which were beautify fresh easy to eat, followed by the prawn toast only complaint was there wasn't enough, lastly we had the milk bun fried chicken ramen sliders and OMG were these delicious. Seriously I'd be going back again just for these, if only they served a full sized burger of this. For mains we shared between the Oyster mushroom risotto, chicken gnocchi, lamb belly and the roast pork special (with a side of the fries potatoes W/ creamy truffle aioli...of course). All these dishes were nice and fresh and cooked to perfection. In summary, the food was fantastic, the drinks were flowing and the company was second to none. Young George chefs should be commended for their passion for food and the servers for their willingness to help and actually give good advice. I had high expectations for the Young George and I am pleased to say they were far surpassed in all avenues. Service: 10/10 Food: 9/10 Value: 7/10 Thanks to the team for having us, will be returning again shortly 😊

Quite dissatisfied with this experience. Understandably your busy it's valentines day. nothing remotely service wise was attended to it was shocking picture a table just being cleared of starters and you go to order two glasses of wine before your woodfire mains to get no food or drink for 40 mins. At this point we are starting to notice the small details have not been done for the service like the aircon is off....It was a 35 - 40 degree day today and our water glasses are empty. So at this point I ask where our drinks are at because I really need any form of liquid and if we can move outside. I get assured its first in line at the bar and get apologised to. At this point I expect a lift in service but no I get another 20 minute wait for our drinks after being asked by a waitress who is obviously out to do damage control. Then we finally receive two of our 3 orders main course meals. We finish our stuffed chicken and our potatoes and was still waiting for our pork belly . We assumed it wasn't coming. The waitress cover. She starts with "how was everything?" I replied with "some of it was fine" so then she looks confused at me for a moment til I tell her we are missing our pork belly and at this point after two entrees a main and potatoes spread over 2 hours...understandably we are now not hungry. To be told it's "staggerd food" at the end to cover up a mistake/forgotten meal is the icing on the cake. I tried to see if we could not continue to go ahead with this lonesome 2nd dish but no I had to get it take away. In the end I paid full price for all our food and drink and didn't barter for a freebie but to be brutally honest shouldve gotten one with the service and atmosphere. Total bill is $195.50 plus the surcharge. All in all never again.

We visited this restaurant because it was listed on the web search amongst the top 50 best restaurants in Perth. if its on the internet it must be true, eh? The ambience is trendy but exciting and varies considerable depending upon where you are seated. I had the special, Roast Duck with Roasted Beets and Roast Strawberries, (see photo) and my spouse had Oyster Blade Waygu Beef with mushroom sauce (and that was all that came with it - the meat and the sauce). The flavours were fabulous, but the serves were on the pretentious side of a bit small, given the prices being charged. The wine list was exciting - most adventurous indeed. The staff were engaging and attentive. The flies were terrible. I was suspiciously satisfied with the experience (the ambience is terrific) but the price nearly knocked me off my feet. Two mains and a bottle of Riesling cost $204 AUD for a casual lunch. Not really competitive at all and I am not a scrounger! No doubt the Executive Chef is an expert who has a fabulous handle on flavour and first class quality food delivery and uses only the very best fresh local produce ... but the price!!! Won't be back. Have had better meals elsewhere at places paying much higher rents than this place and have paid as little as $134.00 for a better experience. Pity really as we eat out about three days/nights a week when we can.

Popped in for the Sunday roast lunch special, and found so little to fault at this gorgeous little neighbourhood bar. The service is prompt and friendly, the range of food items and drinks covers nearly all the bases, and the serving sizes were great for the price paid. We added to the Sunday Roast special the fried potatoes with cafe de paris butter, and the milk bun with mi goreng fried chicken. The potatoes are crispy crispy fried on the outside, and mostly soft fluffy on the inside. The sauce is DELICIOUS! For $10, definitely better than the usual basket of McCain's that usually gets served up at neighbourhood bars. The milk bun- $8 ea, and great combination of flavour, my only problem with this is it could have had more seasoning (read: salt) on the chicken, and the tangy sauce was so good, I would heartily approve it being saucier. On to our mains- and the reason we chose to lunch here, woodfire roasted pig. $26, and includes a glass of wine. The worst part of the dish was the most delicious Smokey Crackle was a small (ish) piece. Perfectly roasted pumpkin, native thyme savoury bread pudding, with a touch of pickled cabbage. Will definitely be coming back, and bringing more friends.

My partner and I went to Young George tonight for her birthday, and from start to finish the experience was phenomenal. We were greeted by a very friendly waiter who seated us at the bar and made sure we were attended to while our table was finished being prepared. The place was packed, being a Saturday night, yet the staff were efficient and still took the time to provide great service. Our waiter explained in welcome detail the aspects of the menu and was clearly knowledgeable and passionate about the food on offer. We had the milk bun chicken, beef tartar, scallops, octopus, and potatoes. Each and every dish was perfectly cooked and had a unique and great flavour. All of them were delicious, but my highlights were the scallops and octopus. The scallops were so fresh, and I don't think I've ever had octopus that tender. The chefs and all members of staff should be commended for the quality of experience they put out. We'll definitely be back.
