Das Kaiserfeld — Restaurant in Graz

Here in the Governor’s Room of the Grand Café Kaiserfeld in the oldtown, the City Center of Graz, you feel the charms of the old days. Sitting within this palais while Arnold Schwarzenegger, probably Graz‘ most famous son, is watching you through many pictures of him hanging on the walls. With the Café Kaiserfeld you have a coffee shop with Viennese coffee shop flair, right in the center of Graz.

Frankly you almost forget to be in Graz, due to the atmosphere and the aura of Arnold Schwarzenegger being omnipresent in the Café Kaiserfeld.

The opening hours are decent throughout the week, since the Café Kaiserfeld closes at 22:00 (10 pm), but on Saturdays it closes as early as 18:00 (6 pm) and Sundays the Café Kaiserfeld is closed at all. This could be improved…

Actually there is also no WiFi, so better bring your own. And when it comes to plugs it is also quite complicated and a matter of improvisation. Here the Grand Café Kaiserfeld is totally in line with the traditional Viennese coffee houses sticking to tradition.

Many events are held in the Café Kaiserfeld throughout the year and you also can have lunch, toasts and soups here at Café Kaiserfeld.

The delicious pastries and the coffee of the Café Kaiserfeld is also in line with the standards of a Grand Café. This comes together a very nice and comfortable atmosphere to sit in, with a decent jazz, lounge, and big band music playing in the background. This café feels definitely like a true Grand Café.

Gastgärten im Winter zu fordern ist ja wohl in diesen Zeiten ein Wahnsinn. Aber der Strom kommt ja ohnehin aus der Steckdose. Auch in Schweden und in kälteren Gegenden funktioniert das Rauchen im Freien, nur bei uns nicht. Schade, werde das nette Lokal wegen so einer Einstellung in Zukunft meiden. Dipl.Ing. Sehr geehrter Herr Lackner, Ich bin trotzdem der Meinung, dass Heizstrahler im Aussenbereich im Winter eine Energieverschwendung sind. Wenn wir das Klimaziel für unsere Enkelkinder einigermaßen erreichen wollen, sollte man so etwas generell verbieten, was auch sicher kommen wird. Und dann ist das Geschrei der Wirte wieder groß, wenn Investitionen umsonst getätigt wurden. Es gibt gute Beispiele (z.B. eine Bäckerei in Ihrer Nähe) die Decken bereit stellen. Außerdem muss man sich ja sowieso ankleiden, wenn man im Freien rauchen will. So stark zu heizen, dass man das nicht muss, wäre ja wirklich ein Wahnsinn. Also Mantel, Haube und Handschuhe anziehen und ab ins Freie. Dabei ergeben sich ja auch interessante Gespräche in den Grüppchen vorm Haus. Ich war lange Zeit ein starker Raucher, was sich aber in Österreich abspielt, ist lächerlich. Es geht in ganz Europa und die Besucher bleiben deshalb nicht zu Hause, vor allem, wenn die meisten ja auch in der eigenen Wohnung kaum mehr...
