I arrived this morning with two small children to grab some coffee and breakfast. I ordered two coffees and two cinnamon rolls, expecting something soft and fresh like the cinnamon rolls I usually get in my country or other places I visit as a tourist.
I saw one cinnamon roll on the counter with other cakes, so I assumed we would receive the order right away. No one informed me that I would have to wait 15 minutes for the roll, or that it wasnât freshly baked but frozen. When it finally arrived, the kids were excitedâit looked nice with frosting and some fruit on top. But the moment we took the first bite, we realized it was hard as a rock and very dryâimpossible to cut with a fork.
To me, it felt like a three-day-old pastry that had just been reheated and topped with fresh frosting. I wanted to say something right away, but there was a long queue at the bar. I didnât want my kids to eat it, but they were too hungry so they ate half of each. When I eventually spoke to the staff, they told me the roll wasnât oldâit had been baked, frozen, and possibly overheated. They offered another cake as compensation, but we didnât have time and didnât want anything else to eat after that so we left. Since we paid 17 euros for two coffees and two cinnamon rolls, I felt I had to share this experience for future customers. And to the manager and staff: Iâm not here to teach you how to handle these situations, but the least you couldâve done was cancel the order and offer a refund.
Also, letâs be honest: a reheated cinnamon roll can never compare to a freshly baked one. I wonderâhave you ever actually tried the cinnamon roll youâre selling for 4.5 euros? If you want to serve it this way, maybe consider half-baking it and finishing it fresh for each order. But most importantly, customers should be informed that itâs not fresh and that it requires time to...
Read moreWe had our breakfast there approximately at 10:30 on Sat., 19 October. The cafe was in principle nice, rather crowded, but several small tables were still available. A queue of 3-5 ppl to order your food/drink at breakfast rush hour seems to be normal. Simple procedure: order, pay for and pick up your food/drink at the same spot - ordinary self service, we had nothing against thatâŠ
+Pluses+: Gut coffee, tasty food, reasonable prices and nice, but very limited staff (a least at the counter).
-MINUSES-: The rather simple food that I ordered and already payed for, to my astonishment, was not only not ready in 15-20 minutes, but it hadn't even started cooking! Oops! :( Of course, after my reminder I got it within the next 5 minutes with apologies⊠but and my coffee was long gone by that time. However, that problem, unfortunately, has spoiled our initial positive impression of...

Coffee quality is above average to high quality - tea is high quality. They offer milk substitutes, and some vegan/veggie food options. Love the lighting, decoration, and vibe overall. Feels homey and welcoming. Staff is extremely friendly. You must try their baked goods! A big plus is that the menu has been painted onto the wall in big print - so it's very easy to order. Personally, one of my top 4 cafes in Graz.
