El Gaucho at Landhaus — Restaurant in Graz

Graz is the place with very poor offer of really good,high quality restaurants and great food,so there are just tree restaurants in such standards in the whole city. El Gaucho is one of those 3 restaurants.We are their guests almost nine years because we dont have much choices .They drop in quality about stuff and looks like that they dont show to guests meat which they have in their offer as they used to do.Also,they used before to have some antipasti for free ( salami,olives Calamata,spices,dry tomatoes and butter) and now they serve it in less amount and just if you are their guest for dinner.They have just 3 salads in offer,which is so ,so little and all of their salads are poor and not refreshing.They should have at least 6 salads in offer.Vogel salad is served with big amount of finely chopped bacon which destroy the taste and doesnt suit here.Cezar which they do is just with parmesan and sauce.Such salads are not going with big portions of meat because it can not refresh you,it can make you feel more thirsty because of parmesan.Food is very,very expencive and bad stuff is that if you order beef tatar, they will not bring you 250g or more in portion.They will bring you so small portion served in nice way that you forgot about amount( but you will remember when they get you a bill,because price is like for 300g).Deserts are very,very expencive,like 10€ per piece and usually they are smaller portions..except,Creme brulle for instance. We got these days one desert where it comes one tiny ,longer piece of cake ( which is very cheap,no need for quality or investment) almost the same like dry and bad brownie,with one normal spoon of ice cream and few balls of grape or cranberry.And was not tasty,none of us liked it and was 10 €!! Great businesses if you have cake which costs maximum 0,50cents ( even less) per piece!!!Also they are doing mistakes about reservations and if you book for 5 or 6 people they will get you a table where 2 people can freely eat but they said it is for 3.They will resolve the situation,for sure,because they will always offer smallest table and they always keep few extra and big ones ones.Bad stuff is that you feel smell of cooking too much,which is not so good.They should fix that.By the end,they used to give sweet balls as a desert after they get you a bill and now,not.You have to count around 70-90€ per person if you take wine, and from...

Experience as follows:

Starter Tartar is great

Main: Dry aged rump steak - had an insane amount of fat on it, not trimmed at all, also had some tendons that made it hard to eat in some portions. Under seasoned and served on cold plate. Not the worst steak in the universe but I would say average at best and not worth even half the price.

Burger - Can be minimum medium - well ( we asked for medium rare and this answer raised some flags), tasted like beef+pork (if i'm wrong then it was extremely low quality beef but then i don't understand why it can't be medium rare). Burger was very dry and had no special anything.

Fries - frozen fries nothing special

Desert - Good.

Drinks are ok, nothing special.

Service - Above average, good quality.

I would rate the restaurant as underwhelming. The prices are extremely high and I felt like there was no feeling of top quality. I rate the restaurant 3 stars because the starter and desert were still good and the service was great but beware what you pick...

3 Gäste waren wir und 3 mal bestellten wir das gleiche Steak " medium " gleiches Filet , gleiches Gewicht !!

Ich habe dieses Lokal zum 2. mal besucht diesen August. Nachdem ich im Jänner einen wunderschönen Abend dort hatte.... Zusammen mit meiner Freundin und meinem Neffen hatte ich einen Tisch reserviert.

Nachdem wir zuerst die Hauptspeise hingestellt bekamen und bereits 4 Minuten später !! die Beilage dazu erhielten , konnte das Essen beginnen.

3 mal das gleiche große filet medium ...und doch 3 mal unterschiedlich durchgebraten????

. Das Stück meines Neffen war quasi roh und das Blut rann sichtbar ad teller Meines war am weitesten durchgebraten ,jenes meiner Freundin war in der Mitte .Also zwischen meinem und dem meines Neffen. Es war absolut sichtbar am Teller .

Als die Bedienung ( Herr mit Glatze) beiläufig fragte:" ob wir zufrieden wären ?". Kommentierte ich lächelnd und höflich die Umstände.

Ich sagte dem Kellner das ich vom 1.Besuch her besseren Service gewohnt war .

Antwort :" vielleicht sind ihre Erwartungen zu hoch? !".

Ich hatte ab diesem Moment keine Lust der Bedienung zu erklären das ich zuletzt in Spanien und Polen mit besseren Steaks versorgt worden bin ....Also fragte ich die Bedienung höflich , ob die unterschiedlichen Garstufen bei 3 gleichen Filetsteaks a 250gramm auch etwas mit falschen Erwartungen zu tun hätten ?

Antwort :" Ja warum haben sie uns denn nichts gesagt ? Dann hätten wir es NACHGEBRATEN ! "

Jeder der Ahnung hat , weiß das dies bei einem 55€ steak ein Witz ist .Ein Hohn für das Fleisch und noch lächerlicher für das Steakhouse welches dies anbietet.

Wir zahlten 155€ . Die Bedienung war schlampig und nachlässig und unpersönlich.

Im Sommer braucht man sich keine Mühe zu geben denn wir waren umringt von Touristen und Geburtstagskindern welche aufgrund eines Feuerwerks am Dessert bereits endlos begeistert waren. ( Warum dann noch Energie für vernünftigen Service und know how in der Küche investieren...)

Fazit : wer ein Steak haben möchte sollte dieses Lokal auslassen. Weder der Service noch die Küche rechtfertigen die Preise. Über die " Argumente " des Kellners würde ich als Chef einmal reflektieren: Gibt es zu hohe Erwartungen oder ist das Lokal zu schwach ?

Ist es wirklich angebracht dem Gast anzubieten das Stück Fleisch nachzubraten ? ( wo gibt's den so etwas in der gehobenen Gastronomie ???)

Einzig ein neues Steak wäre akzeptabel gewesen vor allem da wir alle drei gerade einmal 1/3 unseres steaks gegessen hatten.

Das die Bedienung unfähig war Hauptspeise und Beilage zeitlich nahe zu servieren erwartet man auch eher im Bahnhofslokal als im soo tollen Gaucho . Auch eine Getränkenachbestellung dauerte 10 Minuten.

Jedem Gourmet rate ich somit ab dieses Lokal zu besuchen .

Touristen , Geburtstagsfeiern und alle die keinen Wert auf Service und Qualität legen sich dafür aber gerne belehrmeistern lassen...
